that fatal night pt.3

[BETTY'S POV]

I had no idea what time it was, but I woke up in pain, I think the effect of the painkillers was over, Jughead was asleep and I didn't want to wake him up, I had the head on his chest and I could hear his heartbeat, and it made me feel calm... his hand was on my shoulder and I could feel his touch, it was warm and made me feel safe, I always feel safe in his arms. I tried to remember what happened, but the last thing I remember was going off to work and getting in the car, then I woke up here. I hate it here. The oxygen tube on my nose is annoying and I just wanted to take it off, I felt like a child thinking this, I should've been thankful to be alive but the only thing I could think about was what if I had died? And then I felt a delicate touch, it was wiping off a tear from my cheek; I looked up and saw he woke up and was looking at me "baby, what's wrong?" "noting, it's just I can't sleep" I replied narrowing my eyes resting my head on his chest again. He kissed my forehead and stoked my hair and whispered "don't worry, we're gonna work everything out. Now try to sleep, you have to rest" I slowly nodded, closed my eyes and fell asleep.

[JUGHEAD'S POV]

It has been 30 minutes since she had fallen asleep again, and I was looking at her sleeping on my chest, she was so beautiful, I really don't know how I could've survived without her, and with all these thoughts in my mind, I finally fell asleep again.

The next morning the nurse came in to check on Betty, who was doing pretty good actually. "So, miss Cooper, how are you today?" the nurse asked kindly looking at Betty's medical folder "good" her answer sounded more like another question and the lady looked back at her. "Well, you have been lucky in the car accident. You got a broken knee, a... quite deep cut on your chest and a couples stitches on your forehead, it could've been way worse" "I guess so" Betty replied smiling; "anyways" the nurse continued "you don't have to worry, the babies are perfectly fine" I wasn't expecting this AT ALL, "baby?" I asked looking at the nurse. I was sitting on the armchair next to Betty and, by the look she had when she turned at me, I can tell she wasn't expecting this either, she looked back at the nurse and shakily said "Am- am I pregnant?" "What? You didn't know, miss?" the lady asked switching the look from her to me "You're 27 weeks pregnant" Betty turned at me again before saying "How is it possible? i don't see any belly, i don't have symptoms" "well" the nurse started "for some unknown reasons, for some women, the physical tip-offs of pregnancy, like weight gain, morning sickness, heartburn, or fatigue, don't happen. Or they're so mild that a woman just doesn't notice them. Depending on their body type. You see, it's reasonable for a woman to make it to 30 weeks without looking pregnant" after a couple moments of silence Betty said "I... I'm going to have a baby" "BabieS, actually. You're gonna be the mother of twins" then the lady left.

[BETTY'S POV]

I was staring at wall in front of me, lost in a tide of thoughts, then I turned at Jughead, who has been staring at me for the pasts 10 minutes, "a mom? me? what am i supposed to do? I'm only 20" he stood up and got closer, then he took my hands in his, I love when he does this, and he kissed them, he looked at me with THOSE heart eyes "dad. I'm gonna be a dad" he was so soft that I could only smile with tears coming up to my eyes. Veronica's voice in the hallway yelling at a random nurse broke the silence "WHERE IS SHE? I NEED TO SEE HER NOW SO EITHER YOU TELL ME OR YOU ARE GONMA WISH YOU WERE NEVER BORN!" "room 24B, end of the hallway on the right" and then we could hear Archie behind her "I'm really sorry miss, she is very worried about her best friend and she has this attitude when she's-" "ARCHIE MOVE YOUR ASS!" then Veronica stormed in the room with Archie behind her.
