MILES CRINGED as he walked the halls of his new school. Everyone had seen how his father had embarrassed him in front of the whole school, so everyone knew about it.

He heard snickering behind him as Miles gripped the straps of his backpack and he grinds his teeth as he tries to ignore everyone else that was possibly pointing or laughing behind his back. He sighs and looks at the creased map in his hands that students were passing out in the front of the school to new students.

The map showed different parts of the school that made the school seem much larger than it was. There was the cafeteria, the classrooms, the office...

Speaking of which, Miles realized he needed to find the office before he could do anything else. As Miles realized that, he looked at the map again and the chart showed him where the office was, not too far from where he was walking.

As he walked towards the office, map in hand, he felt like today was going to be a day where something happened that was never usual. You know, like the feeling when you're watching a horror movie and think the person is going to die immediately after they make a dumb decision.

Miles pushes the feeling out of his head, wanting to clear his head of anything he would think would destroy his chances of having a good first day at school. He sighs and finds the office door, a metal plating engraved with the word "Office" hung off the front of the door. He then grips the door handle and opens the door.

Miles walks into the office, seeing a large old school computer sitting in front of an old woman who looked tired at the desk. The desk was neatly made with a canister of pencils and pens of sorts, the computer sitting in the middle and there was a nametag pinned by a safety pin on the woman's bright yellow and orange shirt.

Miles reached behind himself and closed the door, making a small sound of the door closing and the sound snapped the woman's attention. The woman used her wrinkly hands to push the computer to the side, allowing Miles to get a look at her face.

Her skin was a light tone, having wrinkles come down the sides of her slightly sagging face, glasses sitting on the bridge of her nose, and slowly slipping down. The sides of her eyes wrinkled as she blinked and pushed her glasses back up to the bridge of her nose.

"May I help you?" the woman said. Her nametag read the name Barbara, and it shook slightly when she placed her hands on the table, her hands intertwined, forming into a fist and patiently waiting on Miles. Miles cleared his throat and looked up at the woman.

"Yeah, um, I am a new student here. My name's Miles Morales..." Miles says uncertainly, fidgeting with his tie as the woman looks at him with a look of a seeming to be bored look for a second. Then she stops looking at Miles as she pushes the computer right back in front of her. Miles looked around the office uncertainly as the woman rushed her fingers over the keyboard, making clacking noises that filled the room.

Miles looked around and saw a tag above a couple of doors that said "Principal", "Counselor Smith", and "Counselor Williams", telling Miles that he was in the office alright, as if he didn't know that, and he looked back at the woman when he heard a small whirring noise coming from a small black tag printer sitting on her desk. The printer was connected to the computer by a small black wire sticking out from the back of it to the back of the computer.

The printer then ejected a small rectangular sheet out of the slit, and Barbara tore the small paper out of the printer and handed it to Miles. Miles took it at his fingertips and studied it. It seemed like a nametag, judging by the "Hi, My Name Is:" Tag at the top of the small paper.

Barbara then grabbed a pen from its neatly made canister and then handed it to Miles for him to sign his name. Miles placed the small paper on the hard desk, clicked the top of the pen, and then signed his name in a regular manner.
