"Niamh..Niamh.." I opened my eyes. Ally was kneeling over me. I scrambled back. She hit her head.
"Oh f- sorry! I am so sorry!" I squealed.
"It's fine, fine." Ally winced.
"Is there like a magical spell or something that could make you feel better, or.."
"Yeah I think so. But I think we need to talk about something." Ally looked serious now.
"Of course! What's up?" I frowned.
"I was protected yesterday by some magical shield. This world never does that. I think.. I think it was you."
"What? Me? Absolutely not. Maybe the world started doing that for a change?"
"Niamh, I've been on the run for four years. The grounds don't just start changing at random. That's not how it works."
"It can't be me,  ok? I don't have any powers. You're wrong. End of conversation." I stormed away and ran towards the ocean.
"Niamh!" I heard Ally call after me. She grabbed my hand.
"No, Ally! I don't have any powers. I can't, I can't. I only found out about this place two days ago! It's impossible."
"Is it though? I don't think you think that. I think that deep down, you know I'm right." I swatted her hand away. She was right.
"No." I lied. "I think I'd know what I felt."
"Oh really? Keep telling yourself that." She scoffed. " But I was the one protected that day. You felt something. Like you had to protect me. You still feel something. Don't you?" I stopped dead in my tracks.
"What do you mean?"
"I think someone has a little crush."
"I don't love people I've only just met. You're thinking too far into it. Believe that  I have powers, by all means, but never assume that I love someone within what? Three days? And because you saved my life? No. You might think I owe you. Go ahead. Insure my life's debt to you."
"Why would I do that?"
"Because maybe this is what you wanted all along. To have someone to rely on you. To feel loved because your parents aren't around anymore-" Ally's eyes started to glisten. I slapped my hands against my mouth. "Omigosh I am so so sorry Ally I didn't mean to-"
"Did you not? Because it felt like you did. Just get out of my sight. K?"
Instead of me storming off into the night, it was her.
We didn't speak for over a month, save for the necessary things.
"You hungry?"
"Yeah."
"I'm done, your turn to take a shower." Ect. I'd really fucked up.
