"Ally, I'm sorry."
She sat at the shore her face turned away.
"I told you, it's whatever."
"So why aren't you speaking to me?"
"I said it's whatever, not that I forgive you." She snarled. I was stunned, shock and hurt etched into every line of my face.
"But I'm sorry!" I begged. Tears threatened to spill from my eyes.
"And sorry does what?" She turned to face me. "What, huh? Sorry doesn't erase my mind! A sorry doesn't take it away! This isn't Harry bloody Potter where Ronald's actions were excused! You can't just say that to me and expect me to forgive you!"
"Well I know that but-"
"But nothing. That hurt, Niamh. I'm not going to forget. I might as well just leave you here for Meg to find you after that." I had nothing to say. "Quiet now? Not gonna say anything like ‘your parents are dead’ anymore? Yeah. That's what I thought." She got up and turned to walk away."Please." I frowned. "I'm sorry ok? It was in the heat of the moment."
Ally laughed, but it didn't feel very friendly. It wasn't the contagious laughter when you tell a joke. It felt empty and cold.
"Heat of the moment. Heat of the fucking moment. Because I told you you had powers and you went all out because of denial. Gotta admit, Niamh. You're pretty fucking stupid."
"Why would you even say that?"
"Because it's true isn't it? You're dumb. But then again, you're blonde, what did I even expect?"
"How dare you?"
"How dare I what? Point out the obvious because you hit a nerve last month? Did you think I was gonna get over it that month? No. No. Because I just finished healing that before I met you."
"I didn't know what I was saying, ok? I've apologized a trillion times already."
"Did you now? I remember you apologizing twice a day. It's been nearly two months so that's like 100 times. Nowhere near a trillion."
"It was an exaggeration." I said with exhaustion.
"I know that. And you seemed pretty concious of what you were saying that day."
"Well I was but-"
"Oh so you DID know what you were saying so you just lied to me. Ok. That's fine." She released her hand from my grip."You have to forgive me!"
"I don't have to do anything for you. I don't owe you. Like you said, you owe me." She said harshly.
"It's not my fault you saved my life!"
"So you weren't the one screaming help as you fell? You BEGGED me to help you. That was effortless and you couldn't even do it. Guess you're not as loved as you think, huh? The seaweed don't like you unless you're with me. We don't need to have this conversation anymore." She turned back around and stormed away.
