There she was, in the flesh. Captain Rex couldn't believe his eyes.

"Commander!"

Rex shouted over the loud "humm" of the Republic ships flying above him. The sounds of his brother's cries echoed throughout the battlefield. Captain Rex was covered in a shiny's blood, and Rex shuddered as he thought about the newcomer dying just moments ago in his arms.

The hot, dry air of the planet didn't help the ongoing battle. They had been assigned to this shitshow of an outpost just days before the Separatists showed up. The entire 501st legion was taken by surprise, and they soon found themselves completely overrun by Separatist clankers.

Rex attempted to sprint over to Ahsoka, but got caught up in the crossfire between the two sides. He quickly ran behind a large rock to shield himself from the bullets that were whizzing inches away from his head. He looked behind him, and saw his fellow troopers fighting with every bit of strength they could muster. They couldn't last like this for long.

Rex's comm buzzed, and the captain immediately answered it. General Skywalker showed up on the hologram attached to his wrist. Anakin was in the middle of slashing droids down with his lightsaber, fighting alongside another clone.

"Rex! What's your position?"

Anakin yelled into his comm while cutting down another droid.

"We're trying to take back the base sir, but we've been overrun and our numbers are depleting."

"I don't like the look of this, Captain."

"Me neither Sir."

Anakin and the other clone finished taking down the last droid, and Rex was about to say something else before he heard an explosion.

"Rex... what was that?"

Rex's eardrums felt as if they were being ripped out of his skull, and he stumbled before falling to his knees on the ground.

"Aghhhh!"

Rex let out a scream of agony while clamping his hands over his ears. A pain shot through his body, and Rex could feel his leg go numb. Rex attempted to speak, but he found himself stumbling for words, still shaken by the recent events that happened.

"Rex!?"

Anakin had been trying to speak to the Captain for far too long. Anakin turned around.

"Soldier!"

He spoke to the clone that just moments ago had fought beside him.

"Yes Sir?"

The clone had been through many battles with Anakin and the 501st battalion. Anakin seemed to remember the trooper's name as Streek.

"We can't win this battle. At least, not today. Tell the men to fall back, and meet up at the emergency coordinates. Is that understood, Streek?"

The clone by the name of Streek quickly nodded his head and started to run to the other troops when Anakin continued:

"And send some backup to get Rex and the boys out of there. It doesn't sound too good on his end."

Anakin glanced nervously down at his comm and looked up at his troops retreating back into the dark forest. Anakin sprinted to join them, and soon he was engulfed in the darkness as well.
