Your POV
I sat on my bed while I hugged my knees to my chest, hiding half of my face.
It's been a year since I got here, and I've lost hope in seeing them again. As each day goes by, I just get more lost then before. It's also been a year since I lost Armin from my life completely, doubting that he's still alive. I've always felt the urge to just end my suffering, but something just stops me.
I heard footsteps approach on the other side of my cell, which was Yelena. She came by every week or two, and she was talking about how she was volunteering to go to Paradis Island.
"Hey there, Y/n." She pulled out a chair and sat in it. Her hands in her laps, she sighed.
"Hey, Yelena." I reply as I slightly rose my head up from my arms. A few seconds of silence pass as she stared at me. "Your hairs getting a bit long for training. Why not you give it a trim?" She said, holding out a pair of scissors. I looked at her with a look of 'why do you have scissors on you' but I decided to take them anyway.
"It's almost time to go to the Island. Have you made a choice of wanting to volunteer?" She asked me with a slight smile. I raised my eyebrows in surprise. They were going to deploy in a few days, and Yelena offered.
"I don't think they'd bring a Titan shifter with them." I sighed as I looked at the wall with my eyes. I hear Yelena sigh with a smile.
"I'll see what I can do. I'm sure I can find a way for you to be able to go. Besides, I think it would be nice to have a shifter with us just in case." She looked at the floor with a smirk.
I let out a sigh and sat on the edge of my bed. "Alright, fine."
A few hours later, it was lunch time for me. They gave me crackers and bread, as usual. They gave me small portions, but nobody knew that I was from Paradis except Reiner, Yelena, and my uncle. My hair has been cut a little and I slid the scissors under my cell door because people may take it the wrong way.
"Hey, Y/n. Got good news." I hear Yelena behind me, making me jump. "I've convinced Commander enough to let you on. You're coming with us." She explained.
I shocked expression went on my face, then a couple of thoughts went through my head. "Wait, but how-" I muttered before getting cut off by her.
"He only said yes since he said that there would be extra protection for us." Yelena said, making me frown and look back at my food. "Even if you don't agree with what we do, you'll still have to cooperate."
"So I'm just there for protection?" I asked her as I looked up at the wall. I hear her hum, meaning I was right. "Alright, I guess it wouldn't hurt I guess."
"When we get on the boat, I have a plan." Yelena caught my attention and I looked back with a curious expression.
On the day of deployment...
Yelena gave me a white puffy jacket, along with white pants and black boots. I put on my jacket and zipped it up, leaving the collar over my mouth because it was a bit too big and stiff for me. I also had to wear a red arm-band so people aren't suspicious. Looking on the table, I see a very well-drawn picture of my three bestfriends. I quickly grab it and folded it up into the pocket of my jacket.
As Yelena and I walked towards the boat, Commander let us on the boat. I walked into one of the rooms, following Yelena. The room was full of soldiers, about 15 at the most. Yelena and I looked at each other and exit the room to the outside of the boat.
