Armin's POV

"So... Do you need anything, Armin?" Y/n asked me, looking in my eyes. When I looked into her eyes, I didn't see the shine I'd always see in her eyes.

"Oh! Nothing, really. I just saw you sitting out here, and..." I itched my head awkwardly. "Well, mind if I sit with you?"

"Uh, sure. If it's not a bother." She replied. I gave her a smile in response and sat next to her, arms resting on my knees as I looked up at the sky. "I actually thought you'd be talking to Annie right now, honestly." I hear her say.

I looked at her in shock. "What? Why'd you think that?" I asked her in curiosity.

"That's what you've been doing for the past four years, have you not?" She replied with a eyebrow raised. "You must've been talking to her crystal for at least a reason."

"Well..." I muttered as I looked ahead of me. "She told me just a few minutes before I came out here that she heard all of it. Of what I was talking about."

"Really?" She said in shock. "I'd ask what you were talking about but I realize that's not my business." She laughed.

"That's actually part of the reason why I wanted to sit next to you..." I itched my neck, feeling a warm feeling on my cheeks. "We never really got the chance to talk about um... that thing back at the restaurant..."

"Oh..." I hear her say. Hopefully I didn't say anything wrong. "Why would we need to talk about that though... He said it was back four years ago. Feelings change." Y/n said, resting her head on her arms.

"He didn't lie though." I stated. "I don't know what I found so interesting about that." I said awkwardly, looking away. "I didn't realize what the feeling was until after I lost you, but when you returned I didn't know how to react."

I hear her gasp slightly and felt her stare at me. "What do you... mean by that? You're telling me this now?" She muttered.

Putting my hand on my head in embarrassment, I sighed. "I don't know but... I admired you since our training days. You were so brave and talented, I didn't even realize that I..." I stopped myself, trying to take a breather from stressing too hard.

"N-No... I'm really not that brave, nor talented... I just do what needs to be done, even if I don't like it. I beat myself up afterward." I can hear the nervousness in her tone.

"I'm just a dead flower laying on the street, waiting to be flattened."

"But that's what makes you brave and talented. To me, at least." I said, glancing at her with a smile.

She smiled back but looked away with a frown. "I just want things to be how they used to be. I know that's not gonna happen though." She sighed with her eyes closed.

"You're not the only one." I huffed as I looked at the floor. "All I'm saying is..." I paused, trying to think of what to say. "I did have something for you."

She let out a relieved sigh. "If I have to be honest with you..." She put on a smile. "I think I did as well." I looked at her with a flustered expression. "I just shrugged it off as a silly childhood thing, but then I realized a few years ago what it was."

Am I hearing this correctly?

"When you said you were visiting Annie back at the shop I was helping, I kind of felt like I had no chance in hell. I remember one thing my mom said randomly, and it was... 'Love is something you can't control.' and I still go by that now. So, I didn't speak up about my feelings towards you."
