The Quest

Chapter 44: Futility

Everyone was ready for what seemed to be their final mission. They reminisced over everyone that they had lost, knowing their sacrifices wouldn't be in vain. Tons of people who they would never forget, even if they tried to. They were all prepared to put an end to GabeN's rule over the universe. They had to, not just for themselves, but for everyone.

They were ready to stop GabeN, once and for all.

Everyone ran down the hallway, and into the room. The hallway felt endless, but they were able to push through it, and make it into the big room.

The room was huge. The walls were gray, and everything was bleak. But Squirrel did notice one thing. There was a gigantic portal in the middle with a slot.

"Well, well, well. Look who's finally made it. If it isn't the squirrel himself?" GabeN said. He slowly turned around. Everyone was filled with determination. This was the man they were after. The man responsible for ordering Billi and Finding Cameron's deaths. The man who destroyed their town. The man responsible for everything. They had to stop him, right here, and right now, or else.

"We're gonna stop you, GabeN!" said Gumball Challenge Kid.

"You piece of crap!" yelled Peter. They were all mad at GabeN for what he had done.

"Ohh... you DO realize that your anger is also unjustified, yes? For all of the things you've done against me; commit acts of terrorism in the warehouse and also on Planet Sheen, knock out many of my guards, steal something from our labs; the list just goes on and on and on."

"We did that because of what you did! Is that not justifiable?" asked Angry German Kid.

Squirrel was oddly silent. He hadn't spoken once since they had gotten in the room.

GabeN held his arm out, and summoned all of his soldiers and guards. They all ran out of the room. Four heavily armored individuals also stepped out.

The masked man, General Wood Irony, General Jorgen

The party were confident about their skills and they knew they could stop GabeN. They had defeated many Valve generals and soldiers before with their quick thinking and fast reflexes.

Gumball Challenge Kid looked to his left.

Squirrel was still not moving. What was going on?

GabeN walked forward, towards Squirrel. The group all pulled their rifles out, ready to fight back against GabeN if he tried anything.

But he didn't pull out anything from his pockets. The only thing that would come out of him would be the words that he uttered out of his mouth. At that moment, the whole universe fell silent in wait of what GabeN would say.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity but what was only a few seconds, GabeN spoke.

And the words that he spoke shattered the group.

"Now come on over to my side...

Gamer Hater Squirrel...

and help me kill your friends!"

The group was completely shocked by what they had just heard. They all turned over to look at Squirrel, and his eyes were yellow.

"What? When?"

"This is all some sick joke, isn't it, Squirrel?"

"Are you insane, Squirrel? Don't do it!"

"What's gotten into you?"

"You better not follow his orders!"

"Come back!"

The group was pleading for Squirrel to take his mask off, and reveal that it was a prank the whole time. But this was the reality that they lived in, and they had to live to accept it. No amount of pinching or convincing themselves that it was a prank wouldn't change the outcome.
