27~ into the iland

A YEAR LATER

SOOJIN POV

Breathing heavily, I placed my hands on my knees in exhaustion.

"Nice one girls! I think that was our best one yet!" cheered Haewon as she quickly ran to pause the music.

Still puffing, the girls and I all nodded our heads agreeing with her.

"Our comeback is looking pretty good don't you think?" spoke Aerum eyeing the rest of us.

Before any of us could reply, there was a sudden voice from the door.

"I'd say it is, Aerum-ssi."

Instantly smiling at the voice, I whipped my head around and saw the boy holding what looked like take-away chicken.

"Jake!"

Quickly running up to the boy, I wrapped my arms around his neck as he snaked his arms around my waist.

"Hey babe. I missed you." he spoke pecking my lips.

I giggled playing with the brown locks of his hair.

"I missed you too."

All of a sudden the room erupted in groans and whines.

"Okay lovebirds that's enough. Soojin-ah can you tell your boyfriend to hurry up and give us the chicken." complained Misun as the others agreed.

"Yeah unlike you two, we prefer to eat our food, not kiss it."

I gasped at Jiwoo's inappropriate comment turning around to give the laughing girls a glare. Looking back at the boy in my arms, I sighed.

"Yeah you should probably give it to them before they start attacking."

The boy's eyes widened as he quickly nodded and bent down to slide the boxes of chicken to the girls.

"Thanks Soojin's boyfriend!"

I scoffed shaking my head at their nickname for the boy and grabbed his hand pulling him out of the room.

"You know what? I don't actually hate the name." he spoke as I pulled him into the hall.

I turned back, looking at him unimpressed.

"It gives me butterflies knowing I'm your boyfriend." he giggled shyly.

I melted at his cuteness before leaning over to peck his nose.

"You're kinda really cute." I spoke smiling.

The boy blushed as he pulled me in for a kiss on the lips.

"Ahem."

Jolting, the boy and I quickly parted and turned our heads to the voice.

"No kissing in the halls."

Laughing at the man, I let go of Jake and quickly ran up to him.

"Hyunsik!"

The man chuckled happily accepting the hug before releasing me.

"Everyone's taking a trip down to I-LAND to have KBBQ, you two should join." he spoke to the both of us.

Hearing the mention of KBBQ I instantly went to tug at Jake's arm.

"Can we go? Please?" I pleaded with desperate eyes.

The boy sighed before turning to Hyunsik and nodding.

Cheering, I threw my hands in the air.

Oh yeah, pork belly here I come.

Leaning my head against the car window in slumber, I suddenly woke up at the vehicle coming to a halt.

"Come on baby we're here." whispered Jake unbuckling my seat belt.

Readjusting my eyes to my surroundings I laid my eyes upon a forest of familiar trees.

"Bring back some memories?"

I turned to Jake and nodded up and down. He chuckled.

"Let's go shall we?"

And with that we both exited the car and approached the large green forest.

The dirt was dry and scratchy and the air was clear and sweet. Looking over at the entrance to the forest, I pictured what had previously been there.

Flashback

The girls lined up in their groups as the media crew began prepping their equipment for the filming of the scene.

"Okay quick first group go!" Goreum shout-whispered as she held onto the walkie-talkie looking device.

The three girls at the beginning of the line squealed before cautiously making their way into the forest.

Soon one by one groups began entering the forest then disappearing into the green. Eventually it was mine and Chohee's turn as one of the crew members signaled us to enter.

We looked at each other with nervous eyes as we took our first step onto the dirt. As if the dirt was some sort of trigger Chohee yelped and held my hand with a tight grip.
We giggled quietly as we proceeded to advance into the forest hand in hand.

End of flashback

Tearing up at the memory I looked at Jake.

"Who knew walking into the forest meant walking into a life of stress and pain." I spoke as I held onto his hand.

"But it's all worth it, because I got to meet you."

The boy smiled as he tightened his grip onto my hand.

"Shall we go in again?"

I watched as the boy pointed his finger into the void of endless trees, prompting me to decide.

Turning my head to the forest, I caught a glimpse of the large building I had once spent 4 months in.

Sitting peacefully like a monk in a church, my mind wandered as to how on earth such a calm building could render some one the most heart breaking memories.

As a gush of wind flew past, the trees began to dance and their leaves began to fly. Almost as if they were egging me on.

Despite everything that has happened.
I know it was all for a reason.
I have a feeling the universe chose me to take this path.

And who am I to go up against the universe?

And with that, I looked back and Jake. Hand in hand, just like before, we giggled quietly as we entered the I-LAND.
