At eight months, Tauriel could no longer deny her pregnancy for anyone, for her, the bump was far too big. Not that she cared, the pregnancy suited her perfectly and she felt more confident and content, counting down the weeks until she could hold her baby in her arms. She didn't feel sick or so at all. Legolas had the same feelings, he loved their unborn child, unconditionally.

The two lovers laid on the grass, hand in hand. The sun was low on the horizon, maybe an hour before it would set, the wind was sweet and light. Tauriels fingers slightly rubbed her abdomen. She smiled happily, absolutely satisfied with her life. Legolas watched her smiling, pure adoration in his ocean blue eyes.

He propped one elbow up so he could rest on his hand and run his fingers along Tauriel's curved stomach, waiting for a kick. Both of them felt the baby kick and Legolas nuzzled Tauriel's neck, then the two battled about who could kiss who first. Of course Legolas won.

After they had been kissing for several minutes, Tauriel heard someone approach them. Softly laying one finger across Legolas's lips to slow his kisses for a minute, she looked up to see Bard walking towards them.
"You two seem to be having a good time" he said, a smile on his face.

"Just making the most of the last few summer days" Legolas said. "I'm sure you and Thranduil have had similar thoughts?"
"Indeed" Bard replied.
Tauriel laughed.
"Nothing broken this time?" She asked.

"Now Tauriel, is that any way to speak to your father in law?" Bard said, raising his eyebrows and trying to keep a straight face. "Anyway, you two must have broken more than us"
"Ha! I don't think so! We have to be wayyyy more careful now I'm getting so big!"

"You certainly are. How many months left?" Bard asked.
"Four. I don't know how I'm going to manage if the baby grows much more"
Bard smiled. Tauriel knew he and Thranduil couldn't wait for their grandchild to be born. They had never been happier.

A few months later

Legolas had been waiting around outside the doors of the healing room for several hours, still hearing nothing. Thranduil had told him it sometimes took a very long time, that Legolas himself took nearly a whole day to be born, but Legolas was still worried. He couldn't stop thinking of everything that could go wrong. He tried to keep his mind away from these thoughts, but unbidden into his mind came imagines of Tauriel, her face pale as snow, blood puddling around her body. He shook his head. Everyone had told him that Tauriel would be perfectly fine, Of course she would be!

"Legolas?"
Thranduil had approached him, unnoticed. He laid his hand on his son's shoulder, and smiled.
"I know how you feel. I remember how worried I was when your mother was having you. Come on, let's go for a walk for a while, it'll take your mind off things" Thranduil said.
"but what if something happens?" Legolas asked.

"They've been ordered to come and find you as soon as the baby comes" Thranduil replied.
Legolas sighed, then nodded. He turned to leave, but suddenly he heard a sound which made his heart stop. A scream. He turned around quickly, and made to open the door, but Thranduil stopped him.
"Tauriel!" He cried, trying to push his father away.

From behind the door, Tauriel screamed again.
"Tauriel!"
"Legolas, Legolas listen to me!" Thranduil said, still restraining his son.
"Let me go to her!"
"Legolas, you're just going to scare her! stop this!"
"Ada I don't care! She needs me!"
"Legolas -"

But Legolas freed himself from his father's grip and rushed inside the healing room where Tauriel was about to give birth to their child. There were about seven healers ready to aid since it's the princess who is giving birth, Thranduil insisted for those healers. And there was also Tauriel's best friend Sigrid. She was holding her hand and trying to calm her breathing and screaming. "Legolas, what are you doing here?" she asked.

The hours grew on and Legolas became more worried. He talked to one of the healers.
"Tauriel, the healer needs you to sleep. You are far too weak." Legolas said.
"It hurts too much." Tauriel said quietly, the pain clearly audible.
"I know it does, melleth, but you need to be at your strongest when it comes time to deliver."

The hours dragged on and they were now far into the middle of the night. Tauriel was completely exhausted.
"My lady, it is time." The healer said as she reentered the room.
"I can't." Tauriel gasped out, tears running down her face. The pain was too unbearable.
Legolas quickly wiped the tears away and looked her in the eyes. "Love, I know you can do this. You have never failed to prove yourself, even when you were weak."
"Okay," Tauriel heavily breathed, "I'm ready."

It hurt Legolas to see her in so much pain, for he would do anything to stop the pain hurting so terrible. He felt so helpless to only be able to support her with his words.
Legolas rubbed circles with his thumb as Tauriel gripped his hand tightly, beginning to push again.
"That's it, keep pushing. You are doing fantastic ." Legolas whispered into her ear.

Tauriel rested for a minute and then took all of her remaining strength to push one last time. She fell back on her pillow, exhausted.
"You did it, you delivered our child!" Legolas said and kissed her passionately. Tears forming in his eyes.

"it's a girl!" Cried Sigrid, wrapping the baby in a soft shawl and laying her gently in Tauriel's arms.
"She's so beautiful..." Tauriel whispered.
"She is..." Legolas replied, smiling at her.
Tauriel smiled too, and kissed her daughter's cheek softly.

A few hours later, Thranduil and Bard arrived.
"Congratulations, my dear" Thranduil said, smiling at Tauriel.
"She's so tiny!" Tilda squealed excitedly.
Bard nodded.
"Isn't she beautiful?" He said. "I'm so proud of you, Tauriel"
Tauriel felt that finally, her life was perfect. She had never wanted anything more than what she now had. She had a loving husband, and finally a family she'd always dreamed of.
