I grabbed my silver and gold keys off of the polished, oak wood key rack. I headed to my sleek, black, 2005 mustang. I put the key in the ignition. I heard the deafening roar of the car coming to life and smiled as I looked out the window. I pressed the garage door opener and it screeched open. I backed out onto the dirt road driveway and took of through my private land. I raced along the roads while looking out the window. The green and blue blurs of trees and ponds were peaceful. All to soon though, the gray, concrete roads of the bustling city came up. I slowed down, almost to a stop before I turned. The promising green light allowed me to turn onto the main road. I was looking out the window but the signs, shops and roads of the city didn't give me the same peaceful feeling. I was trying to go through the city quickly so I wouldn't worry Ryan. "Speaking of the devil." I thought. I heard my phone vibrate on the passenger seat. The thin, shimmery piece of glass showed that my friend Ryan was calling. I unlocked the screen and quickly answered the call. I heard a short "Hey" from him. "Hey man, what's up?" I asked "Where are you? School starts in ten minutes" I laughed as i pulled into the school parking lot and parked behind him. "Turn around." He mouthed an 'Oh' before hanging up. I took the key out of the ignition, clipped it to my book bag and got out of the car. "Come on, don't wanna be late I said teasingly

I threw my book bag into the passenger seat and got in my 2010, silver, Ford pick-up truck. I started the truck and backed out of the driveway. I picked up my phone and quickly scrolled through my contacts, finding Artemis' name I called her. She picked up almost instantly and squealed. "Hey! Where are you?!" She yelled. I laughed "Calm down I'm almost there. Why are you so hyper today?" "Uhhh... did you forget what today is?" She asked. I slapped my forehead "Maybe. Anyways get your butt outside, we have school." I said pulling into the crumbling concrete driveway. She hung up after mumbling a reluctant 'Fine' and came outside. I smiled when I saw she was in a light blue, knee length strapless dress and she had done her makeup. She opened the door and got in. "I can't believe we're both eighteen today!" She squealed. "Well someone's excited." I said wincing and rubbing my ear. "Of course! We could find our mates today!" I stiffened and tried to hide in the seat. "I don't want a mate right now." I said. She sighed and ran her fingers through her hair. "I know. But you can't do anything if you meet him." "Yes I can." I mumbled as we pulled into the school parking lot. When we got out of the truck she sniffed the air and then took off running and squealing. I smiled and laughed as I saw her jump into our friend Damon's arms . I saw him sniff her and hold her close to him instantly, growling at all the other boys. "I've known for a year you were mine, I just wanted you to know before I tried anything." He said smiling. I hung my head and walked inside wishing I could be like them.
