I didn't sleep a wink last night, my mind was wide awake, I just kept questioning why they were back. They can't just be here for me. I am small speck on their future plans. Which worries me massively. I won't be the only one they come after, it'll be my brothers, my papa, my extended family, my friends.
I can't risk their lives.
I will keep them out of this as much as possible.
It was around noon that I decided to roll out of bed and get ready to leave for the Vault, our warehouse/ main base. We keep our identities a secret to the underworld because we try to keep our private lives away from the mess of the underworld. Myself and those who work at the Vault are Free Agents.
This essentially means we have no ties to any certain mafia, no sworn allegiance. We aren't tied by an omertà or a debt. We help whenever needed through intelligence and muscle. We work closely with a Russian Agency ran by the Vasili'ev's.
There isn't very many of us, there is only a couple thousand of us here in the states and a few more internationally. The inner circle only has 10 people- 5 here in the states and 5 others- some are in Spain, France, Italy and England.
I go into my bathroom and shower, with the spray from the shower head easing my headache and the tension in my muscles from my tiredness. As well as washing away the lingering scent of alcohol, even the aftermath of Miles' cologne.
His earthy, fresh scent laying in my hair. To get rid of his memory, even his metaphorical mark I scrub my hair with my shampoo twice just to mask all evidence of him. I continue my shower routine with no deep thoughts.
I relaxed my mind as much as possible before the hell that was going to be risen today.
After I'm out of the shower I run into my closet, pulling on a pair of tight smart trousers, a small bandeau bodysuit, and then to top off the look a put on a cropped blazer, with a chain. Pairing it with gold jewellery.
I take a pair of black block heels and make my way towards the kitchen, I was hungry.
Entering the kitchen I saw Adriano moving around the island, whipping up some food.
"Afternoon fratello." I sit down at the island, answering a few messages.
"Hey Sorella, you hungry?" He puts a plate of blueberry pancakes in front of me with some fruit and whipped cream. I smile up at him brightly, while my stomach grumbles. "So did you have fun last night?"
"Yeah it was great." Stuffing my mouth once again, I always say Adriano is my favourite and a huge underlying factor of that is his cooking.
"I hope you enjoyed your shots Sorellina as they will be your last." I quirk my brow, trying to remain as innocent as possible, "So it wasn't you that was necking shots after you came back from talking to that Miles guy?"
"Ok fine so it was me, but I deserved them it was my birthday. But nothing happened with Miles and I. We spoke, it got slightly heated, he left. Nothing too trivial."
"And are you alright?" He leans over the island, looking concerned.
"I'm fine I promise Adriano. It wasn't serious." He looks at me as if he didn't believe me, I shrug it off.
Catching sight of the time, I quickly hop up. I kiss Adri on the cheek before running for the door. "Where are you going?"
"I'm meeting some friends, I'll be home late. Ti amo."

Arriving at the warehouse fifteen minutes late, rolling my eyes knowing Leonardo will say something ridiculous when I walk inside.
