Chapter 3

"Wei-xiong! Are you seriously still in bed?" A loud voice makes his head ring in the darkness.

"Ugh, who's that?" Wei WuXian complains, his eyes still half closed.

"Your roommate? Your best friend? Nie Huaisang? Who else could it be?" The voice answers.

"What time is it?" Wei WuXian blinks his eyes fully awake and reaches drowsily for his phone at the desk next to his bed. The time read "10am".

"Oh, it's not that late," Wei WuXian sits up fully in his bed now, rubbing the sleeping from his eyes. "I thought it was 1pm or something. When did you arrive?"

"Just now. I spent the night with my cousins last night and had to leave early in the morning."

"Do you need help bringing your stuff up?" Wei WuXian gets off his bed and puts his slippers on.

"We're good, thanks. You look like you're still half asleep. How late did you stay up?" His friend squints at him.

"Well uh...Jiang Cheng and I were playing League soo..."Wei WuXian smiles sheepishly. Nie Huaisang sighs. Just then, another person walks through the door, carrying three boxes in his hand at once.

"Mr.Nie, it's good to see you again!" Wei WuXian greets the man with a smile.

"Ah, Wei WuXian. Good to see you too." The man puts down the boxes. "Just woke up, I see?"

"Oh..haha yeah. I'll just go into the bathroom to change real quick." Wei WuXian hastily grabs his keys and clothes and goes into the shared bathroom on his floor to change out of his pajamas. He goes to help Huaisang move the rest of his stuff to the room.

"Good luck in college and study hard," Nie Mingjue tells his younger brother as they stand outside by the door. "And that goes for you too, Wei WuXian."

"Da-ge, don't intimidate him," Huiasang sighs. "But of course I will study hard! We both will."

Wei WuXian nods at this. They wave goodbye to Nie Mingjue and walk to the dining hall to meet up with MianMian for breakfast.

"The breakfast options are great too!" Wei WuXian says as he scoops scrambled eggs and bacon onto his plate.

"This breakfast sandwich looks fantastic!" Nie Huaisang exclaims. They find a table to eat their breakfast and then return back to the main lounge. Wei WuXian brings his laptop and HDMI cable down from the dorm and plugs it into the television.

"Hello," A voice from the entrance to the room startles them. Standing by the door was an older looking student steps into the room.

"Hello," Wei WuXian greets back.

"I'm Xiao Xingchen. I work as a staff member here. Are you excited to start classes?"

They quickly introduce themselves and shake hands with him.

"Nervous and excited," Wei WuXian admits. "I love the campus so far. It's pretty great!"

"The campus and the city are great," MianMian chimes in.

"I'm glad you like it!" Xiao Xingchen smiles warmly at them. "If you have any questions, I'm in the faculty office on the second floor, Room 202."

"Thanks! We'll be sure to come to you if we want to know something," Wei WuXian says. Xiao Xingchen leaves the room and they resume what they were doing.

"Are we starting from Book 1?" Nie Huaisang asks as he sits down and takes out snacks from his bag, spreading them onto the table.

"Only if we're binging the entire show," MianMian insists. "How much time do we have?"
