So before I get into this I have to give credit where it's due. I got this idea from @angle99999. He made a fic called "Ayanokouji: The Undead vs. The Defective" which is basically Highschool DxD, but with Ayanokouji. I was reading it and thought to myself "Well this is cool, but what if it was the COTE universe but apocalypse scenario?" So that's how this fic was born.

Also this is my first fic so go easy on the roasts.

This fic is taking place before the start of the second year. Post Vol. 11.5 time, but they aren't in the second year yet. I know technically they should be, but with the power of plot convenience let's just say that they still need to wait a week after golden week. Kei confession hasn't happened. Don't despair KiyoxKei shippers, I can always just skip that and just go straight to something else ( ͡ᵔ ͜ʖ ͡ᵔ ).

"Example" = Quotes indicate someone is speaking. No quotes mean that they are thinking, basically an inner monologue. Tell me if you don't like this format and would prefer something else. If I care enough I might change it.

Classroom setting

Ayanokouji POV:

Chabashira: "Now class I want you to try an example of finding the square root of 181 using tangent line approximation. No calculators allowed I will give you......"

Ayanokouji: Today nothing remarkable was happening. The graduation ceremony was coming closer and so was the threat of Tsukishiro. I'm not sure what that man was planning, but it seems like I still have to fight for my freedom. At least I can somewhat enjoy spring break. I looked out the window to see nothing remarkable really.

A/N: I don't actually know the map of the school so this will probably be very off from what Kiyo actually sees.

As the voices in the background faded away I decided to take another look at the thoughts gnawing at me. It was a sunny day. Most people, if not everyone, were probably in classes so the walkways on campus were empty. It was a calm sight. I've seen this scene many times, but I still can't get enough of it. Staring at the birds I imagined what it was like to be them so many times. I had spent a year here "free". The definition of free was changing for me. Sometimes I felt free and other times confined, but no matter what, this was the most freedom I had ever felt. To leave behind a legacy. Is this what I wanted? I wanted memories. Leading a peaceful life has been nice up to now, but I still haven't experienced the full extent of what a normal high schooler could. To make memories. To be remembered. If I couldn't leave a legacy on the school itself then the students would be the next option. I was asked if I wanted to leave something behind, maybe that was the only way for me to choose how my existence would be remembered. That man already had plans for me, so this might be the only chance I get to choose how I'm remembered. Even if it's only in the minds of let say 350 or so people, I felt that was enough. Why? Because I chose it.

Chabashira: "You should have gotten an answer around 13, and Ike I saw you use your calculator so come up to the board and..."

I'm not sure how I wish to be remembered, should I be nice? Should I decide to stop holding back? Should I...

As I was sinking deeper and deeper into my thoughts something was happening that caught my eye. I saw shadows, and lots of them. Were some students taking a walk? Maybe, but looking at the way the shadows were moving some were on all fours? And they were outside of the main gate? Now this doesn't make any sense. Oh well, the security guards should take care of it. I looked to where the security guards were and they seem to be in a mad panic. More personnel were arriving at the scene and they all looked as confused as each other. Good news was that the gate was reinforced and there was a layer of gates that the "offenders" would have to get through in order to get on to the campus.
