A War Is Coming

Ayanokouji POV

???: Who is this?

Ayano: "I need a favor."

Ayanokouji said this with a serious tone.

???: "Ayanokouji?"

Ayano: "Yes, Chairman Sakayanagi"

Sakayanagi: "You know I'm no longer the chairman. Or perhaps you're trying to rub salt in my wounds?"

Ayano: "No, that was never my intention. I believe that the position rightfully belongs to you."

Sakayanagi: "I appreciate that. Anyways, I'll ignore how to obtained my number and the violation of the school rules because of your tone. What is this favor?"

Ayano: "Thank you chairman. I'll be frank, I need an apartment and some supplies."

Ayanokouji texted him a list of supplies.

Chairman: "...Why do you need all of this."

Ayano: "As you know, I'm on the run. Do you also know about the recent change at the school?"

Chairman: "Yes, regarding the fact that some students may choose to go home because of a situation that is affecting Japan."

Ayano: "As expected, you already know."

Chairman: "Ayanokouji, you're asking for a lot."

Ayano: "I know, but I would also owe you."

Chairman: "Oh? Can you give me an example of a favor you would do for me?"

Ayano: "If the need ever arises, who would you prefer protects your daughter from harm? Some bodyguards or me?"

Chairman: "Hahaha! I would say that you're being arrogant, but I know full well what you're capable of. Alright, I accept your favor. Consider it done."

Ayano: "Thank you Chairman Sakayanagi."

I looked at the clock; it was 6pm. While I was talking to the chairman Haruka was texting the members of the Ayanokoji Group in the group chat. I briefly skimmed over their messages and said that I was free now. As if waiting for my response Haruka responded saying we should meet now at a spot near the dorms since Keyaki Mall was off limits. I and the rest of the group agreed.

As I made my way to the area I was the first to arrive so I sat down on a bench. Then the rest of the group came along. We made small talk for a bit until Haruka decided to bring up the topic on everyone's minds.

Haruka: "So...what did you guys pick? I'm going home."

Keisei: "I'm going home."

Akito: "I'm staying."

Ayano: "I'm also staying."

Airi: "I..I'm going home."

Haruka: "I wonder what's going on."

We were told that some "virus" had entered the country. In reality, what they told us was very vague. I knew more than I was supposed to so I knew how bad it was.

Keisei: "Yeah, this is all so weird. It's like I'm being kept in the dark about something."

That's because you are. All I could do was internally sigh at Keisei's statement. The true nature and effects of the foreign agent that caused this situation were still unknown. The world was advancing at a fast pace and with the amount of transportation and shipping of goods that was happening it's safe to assume that if whatever caused was a virus then it has probably affected most countries. It was now the responsibility of world leaders to try and figure this out. It was their job, but they're probably more worried about themselves. Maybe I'm just overthinking things and this will all pass over in a month.
