★08★ I don't want this reality

Inori was not the only one who was Timeless; Kobori Kouji also shared the same fate as her... 

"It's been a very long time, Moriyama, Tokihime." Kobori greeted the two of them, "I guess I should call you senpai, huh?" He looked at Moriyama when he said that. 

"How can you still say all of that with a smile on your face, Kobori?" He can feel his tears flowing, "You're killed...somebody just went ahead and killed you!"

"I know." Kobori said with a small but sad smile, "I'm lucky to even be here..."

"What happened...what happened when you're on holiday?! You said you'd get me a souvenir!" Moriyama rememebered his friend telling him he will come back with a souvenir that will bring a smile to his face.

Moriyama was very depressed at the time and Kobori wanted to cheer his friend up. He went on holiday with his family and never came back alive...

"Yoshitaka-kun..." Inori ran her hand on his back, telling him he doesn't need to cry anymore, "Your friend returned, even if he's Timeless as well, he came back to us." 

"Moriyama, it's fine for now..." Kobori also joined in, "It'll be fine, okay?" 

"Ugh..." He just didn't think it was possible for Kobori to return just like Inori, he wasn't prepared for it; it's not easy to hold back emotions when you open the door to be greeted by a friend who was supposed to be dead...

After a while of crying, Inori left the two of them to talk alone while she made dinner. She wanted them to catch up; it has been far too long...

"I see, Kasamatsu and Kise are alive..." In Kobori's timeline, the two of them were dead, "Moriyama, you've been busy..." 

"Ah. Kobori, how did you become..." 

"Timeless?" 

"So you are aware of the term..." 

"Yes. My mother told me she pulled me out of the Time Hole. I didn't get to ask her much questions because she told me to hurry up and make it here." 

"Your mother had a Time Pen?" Moriyama didn't know there was another Time Pen apart from the one he has...

"Time Pen? No, she used this..." He took out a vintage necklace from his pocket. The necklace had a vintage key with little white crystals, "She told me to keep this close to my heart..." 

Inori made stir-fry and miso soup. She told the boys to help her carry the food to the table and her eyes caught the key in Kobori's hold. 

"Kobori! That...where did you get that?!" Inori's tone of us changed to that of a shocked one. She looked at the key in horror, she covered her mouth in disbelief.

"This? My Mom gave me this and told me to come here as soon as possible..." 

"That is a Time Key..." 

"Huh?" Both of them were very confused.

"With that key, you can open a Time Hole of any location no matter where you are." 

"That is a good thing, right? Now we have something that can open Time Holes! The Time Pen needs you to be at the location! Hahaha! What a great find!" Moriyama's smile was shortlived because Inori shook her head. 

"The Time Key robs the time of the user in exchange of opening the Time Hole..." Inori's words made Kobori realize what had just happened. He immediately ran out of the apartment in an instant, hoping he can still make it...

"Kobori!" Moriyama and Inori followed Kobori, hoping to catch up...

Ever since Kobori Kouji's death, his father committed suicide because he was unable to overlook the fact someone within his family passed away. Some year later, Kobori's younger brother followed his father's footsteps and jumped in front of the train. Leaving a lonely housewife to become a widow, Kobori's mother felt very lonely and decided to do something with her life for once; she's got nothing to lose anymore so she decided to use her time to do something very important...

Within their family, they have a treasure. A treasure that has been passed on for many generations, a treasure that can change a life forever. That treasure was the Time Key. 

The Time Key was a key that can only be used once by the user; a key that robs the life of the user in exchange to change something. Kobori's mother didn't know how to save her son from an unfair fate so she decided to pulled the him who was alive out of the past and into the present here.

When the Time Hole closed and time flowed again, Kobori's mother cried. She cried when her trembling hands touched her youngest son's face; she finally did something useful for the family and she had no regrets...

"Mom!" Kobori made it to his old home and he held his dying mother up from bed, "Mom, are you okay?!" 

She was too tired to speak at this point. The Time Key was slowly and painfully robbing her life...

"Mom...why? Just so I can live an eternal life, you..." 

"I wanted you to live..." Her voice was hoarsed because she's dying and it's getting excruciatingly difficult to speak.

"M-Moriyama!" Kobori looked at Moriyama with tears in his eyes, "Do something! Anything!"

"Oba-san..." Moriyama couldn't believe what was happening in front of him. "Inori-chan, is there anything we can do? There has to be! I have a Time Pen!" 

"There isn't..." 

"Inori-chan! Life is on the line! There has to be something to be done!" 

"It can't be reversed...she will die..." Inori slowly said, trying to ignore the pain that Moriyama was giving her as he grasped her arms tightly, "You're hurting me..." 

"Dammit! DAMMIT!!" Moriyama didn't know what to do... 

"Kouji, it's fine..." Her final words were spoken. She died with a motherly smile on her face.

"Mom..." Kobori cried, unable to take in this reality; what's the point having eternal life when you don't have the people by your side to spend it with? He doesn't want that, he'd rather not even be alive in the first place if he knew him living will cause his mother's death. 

Watching Kobori's mother die without being able to do a thing for her was very painful. Moriyama doesn't want this reality either...
