Why...
Why can't I go to bed?!
I laid wide awake on my side using one of the pillows to cover half of my face. My hair was still a bit damp from taking a shower a while ago, which stuck to my cheeks. I tried to keep my eyes shut, however the moonlight coming from my window was dancing noticeably. Even with the curtain closed, it seems as though it wanted to escape through the fabric. Other than that, it was relatively quiet: the sound of birds chirping in the distance were nowhere to be found, and inside the mansion, not a single noise was made. The whole house had become lifeless and indolent. I couldn't even hear Shadow, although he could probably hear my own thoughts. But I think he would like to be on his own for now, with his own thoughts.
I tossed my body so that I was looking up at the ceiling. It felt as though my mind had been plagued with nothingness but to think. Yet, my mind couldn't focus on anything that came to mind. It kept going on and off on different topics, for instance the people I cared. I wondered how Erisa and Zach were doing. Were they finally together like I instantly thought? Perhaps they have been together without my knowing. Were they laughing and having fun without me? Do they think of me and worry for my safety? Surely they had seen the news on the television and were shocked. Do they miss me? It's easy to think they wouldn't. Why would I think that? They're incredible friends. It was a shame that I didn't see them when me, Painter and Jack had snuck out last night. I wonder if my friends had gotten in contact with my mother. Perhaps asked how she was doing.
Again, my mind didn't stop there. I had thought about Liu. Oh dear god... besides my mother, he is the only one who truly knew what happened. It's been nearly a week I've been here, he probably thinks that the plan failed. What is he doing now? Is he worried sick about me? Does he care where I am? Is the voice in his head making him insane? Sully... that was his name, right? Although Liu was a maniac, I was convinced that there truly was another being with him: another soul that lingered with him. Perhaps Sully thought I was bullshitting the whole thing that day.
Under the sheets, I tried to keep my body warm. You'd think I would have gotten used to the coldness inside the mansion, but here I am. Note to self: don't wear anymore shorts to bed. Maybe it's okay to get something to drink in the kitchen. Something to sooth my throat and perhaps my eyes. Lazily, I rolled over to the side of my bed, unfurling away from the blanket and made my out of the bed, the blanket almost falling off. I slouched back, yawning quietly as I made my way to the door.
Upon opening my door halfway, I felt a harsh thump bang onto my door. It caused the door to move backwards, which had caught my tired self attention. I heard a loud feminine muffling sound from the other end of the door, making out a few cuss words. This time, I opened my door slowly, to ensure I wasn't going to hit anything else. Once my door was fully opened, I saw a figure that was about my height, if not a little bit taller.
I whispered, "Jane?" I had recognised the voice the moment she had cussed 'Crackshit'. As far as I observed from everyone, no one had ever said that, except for her. She stood about a few centimetres away to avoid getting hit by the door once again. Her hands were covering her nose. She must have hit the wooden door pretty hard.
"Yep," she exasperated. "That's me." She looked quite off-guard.
"What are you doing... in front of my room none the matter?" I asked her. It was past eleven in the night, yet she was still roaming the halls. Was she going to my room?
