She was drowning
Wanting to scream out
Until her lungs burned
Her voice cracking from exertion
She had so much to say
So much to let out
But she didn't
All her words were swallowed
Preferring the peace of mind of others
Instead of calming her torrent of thoughts
Preferring to avoid questions
Instead of asking for answers
She only smiled and said I'm fine
All while letting her emotions cave in on themselves
