Backstory:
Her mother, Okoye's closest friend, had died in battle so Okoye took it apon herself to take care of her child. After a year or so of looking after Tara she send her to live with the Avengers and the Agents of SHIELD(when she was 15). Whilst being there HYDRA got a hold of her and experimented on her for a year until she escaped(she was 16). Once she escaped she found her way to the Avengers tower and they helped her train with her new found abilities.
