Chapter 16

Jo pov

"Hadley calm down, just breathe" I tell her as she paces back and forth.

"I could be pregnant. Jo, my period is late. My period is never late" she says

"Just take a test. We'll take it from there" I say to her calmly.

"Will you take one with me" she says stopping dead in her tracks and looking at me.

She's serious.

"I have no reason to" I say

"Please. I just need mural support" she says

"I've never taken one. I'm nervous" she adds

"Fine" I say grabbing a test from her

"I'll use my bathroom then I'll come back" I say and she nods

"Don't worry Hads. It'll be fine" I tell her

I head to my bathroom, peel the test from its wrapper and laugh at the stick I hold in my hand.

"This is a waste of a perfectly good pregnancy test but whatever" I say, peeing on it and letting it rest on the sink.

While I wait for the draining three minutes, I wash my hands, fix my hair and soon enough the test is ready with its beep.

I glance at the stick and get ready to throw it.

I toss it in the trash and my mind processes what I just saw.

"Wait what" I laugh to myself

I pick the stick back out of the trash and examine the results.

1 line means not pregnant

2 lines mean pregnant

Why does my stick have 2 clear defined lines?

"Maybe it's just a false alarm, the test said I wasn't pregnant" Hadley says with her stick in hand, as she walks into my bathroom

"I'm pregnant" I whisper, looking down at the stick

"I'm sorry, I didn't hear you" Hadley says

"I'm pregnant" I say turning to her with wide eyes, she now holds the same expression.

"Jo" she says coming close to me and looking at my test

"How did this even happen" I say covering my face with my hands, beginning to cry

"What can I do to help" she asks

"Can you pass me my phone. I need hero to come over" I sigh

"Hi love" he says pecking my lips as I let him in.

Hadley left a few minutes ago, she's out with Caleb to give hero and I some privacy.

"Hi" I whisper, running a hand through my hair

"Is everything okay? When you asked me to come over, you sounded worried" he says holding my waist

"I need to tell you something" I say sitting us down on the couch

"Jo, seriously is everything okay" he says grabbing my hands, worriedly

"I'm pregnant" I burst out in a puddle of tears and he looks at me in shock

"I didn't even know until Hadley made me take a test because she thought she was pregnant. Turns out I'm the one that's pregnant. I mean are we ready for this. I can't have another miscarriage. I can't handle another loss" I ramble to Hero and he stops me with a kiss

He gently cups my face and kisses my head before looking at me.

"You're not going to have a miscarriage. We will take extra steps with the doctors, do everything we possibly can. We are going to do this together" he says gently and I lay my head on his shoulder

"I don't even know how this happened. We weren't planning for a baby" I whisper to him and he chuckles

"It just happened and that's okay" he says hugging me.

I pull away and cup his face.

"We're going to get through this together" he says placing a hand on my stomach and I look down and giggle

"I love you" I whisper to him and connect our lips

"I love you too" he says laying me down and looming over me

We make out on the couch and spend the rest of the night, cuddling and talking about the future.
