"Queen of Wedlyn, will you look at that . I'm so incredibly proud of you Avalon." Rysand complimented for the thousandth time tonight , as I placed my coronation dress neatly on a hanger while he only ogled my every move from the bed.

"Thank you, king Rysand. " I teased , mockingly curtsying.

"What was that ?" He teasingly laughed as I felt slightly offended , putting my nightgown on.

"That , was my royal curtsy." I defended getting in beside him.

"I can see that , but why exactly ?" He continued to tease as he tried to cuddle with me but I didn't dare give him the satisfaction.

"You know, you don't deserve my cuddles tonight." I pouted , turning on my side. And as much as I wanted to keep up this façade , he so easily broke me when he started placing peppering kisses to the nape of my neck making me break into giggles. He knew how extremely ticklish I was. "fine ! you win okay , just stop tickling me." I admitted defeat as he lied back down seeming very proud of his achievements of victory.

"You might've won this battle , but I promise you I will win the war." I added , trying to sound intimidating as he gave a 'sure I believe you but not really' smile and turned off the light. "I'm being serious." I said laughing, playfully hitting him as he lied back down.

"Oh , I'm counting on it." He said with amusement underlying his tone. Only he would know the ideas and thoughts swimming around in his head right now.

We woke up to gushing wind blowing heavy against the doors and windows, rain pushing against the glass almost as if trying to get their way in. Just as I switched the lamp on , a loud knock sounded on our bedroom door making Rysand jump up.

"yes?" he asked a little groggily -but seeming worried- as I put on my night gown.

"sire there is a big rainstorm coming our way. It's very closely approaching ." One of Rysand's royal advisers said making me step closer.

"what's the damage so far ?" I asked making their heads turn to me as the adviser acknowledged me - bowing his head- before answering;

"so far, just a few houses have water or wind damage but nothing too bad. But I am worried that it will only get worse through the night" As he said that, I turned around seeing the clock read 00:23. If it was this bad already, I could just imagine the damage it will do over the course of the night.

"alright, thank you Charles. I will be right down" Rysand answered as he closed the door and started getting dressed.

"What does this mean?" I asked grabbing him a jacket and some socks.

"Well, Wedlyn has had it's fair share of storms in the past but nothing this bad before."

"okay. So what do we do ? How can I help?" I asked handing him his shoes.

"We start by giving shelter to those most at risk, meaning the families and older folk who are most defenceless. If you want to help , you can start by grabbing that list of names from the top shelf in my office and start making arrangements for them. "

"Alright. And is there a specific place you want them placed?" I asked putting my own shoes on.

"Along with that list is a list of places and people who have helped us out before. Are you going to be okay?" Rysand asked standing up.

"Yeah, I'll be fine." I said with a smile as he placed a kiss to my lips before running downstairs tending to the people's matters.

Grabbing the lists from Rysand's documents I start calling up all of the places listed to see if they had any room available. I could see that this was going to be a tall order to fill because looking down the list there were about 53 families and 36 of the older folk who were alone or ill. I had no idea where to even start looking or who to prioritize first. After about 2 hours of calling churches, community centres , hospitals and schools, I have already placed more than half of the high priority citizens of the kingdom. I could see why this was such an important part when natural disasters like this occurred. Rysand wanted to ensure the safety of everyone in the community in times like this , especially those who were ill, old, alone or otherwise their living conditions being anything but ideal in situations like this. It showed that he cared about his people and their well being, I just hope I could find them all a dry and safe place to live before it gets any worse.

"How are you holding up?" Rysand asked walking back into his office.

"I've called every place on the list and could find a temporary place for 31 families and all 36 older folk to stay during the storm. " I answered going down the list.

"That's great Avalon. But why do you seem downhearted ?"

"Because now every place on that list is at full capacity and I still have 22 families to place... 20 of those families are all single parents with small children and the other 2 are families with newborns. I don't know how I seemed to have missed placing them first. I don't know what to do now. " I said as I could feel Rysand appearing behind me, placing his hand on my shoulder in a form of comfort.

"So what does your heart tell you?" he asked softly as I looked up at him questioningly.

"my heart...wants to help them most of all, because in a way... I'm one of them. Was one of them."

"just say it Avalon, I already know what you're thinking." Rysand encouraged as I took a deep breath looking up at him.

"Is there a way we can open our doors to have them stay here?"

That's it ! I know it's been a while my little wolves and I want to thank you for your patience, it has been greatly appreciated. I don't have much time to write since studying full time but I will try to finish this book and write as much as I can while on semester break :) Hope you enjoyed it, until next time keep howling my wolves. ❤🐺
