It has been years since Lucas Harper has been chasing me. It has been years and he's still not giving up. I cut my hair short during third grade, he still didn't give up. I picked my nose in front of him, he still didn't give up. I farted when I was with him, he still didn't give up. I told him I don't like him, he still didn't give up. I told him he doesn't have a chance, he still didn't give up. I had a boyfriend, he still didn't give up.
He is one determined person, and I hate it.
He has been following me--stalking me, even!--ever since first grade. All I did that time was help him get up when he fell off the swing and he never stopped since then! It's already a decade, and he's still chasing me. It's not really creepy, it's actually a bit annoying.
"So are you going to be okay waiting for your boyfriend over here?" Sara asked as she closed her locker.
"Yeah, it will be just ten minutes." I assured her, smiling. Tracy, however, wasn't satisfied.
"I still don't get it. Why is the girl supposed to be waiting for the boy? Shouldn't the guy make time to see her?" She fumed out.
"And ditch his ongoing remedial? Yeah right." Rica retorted. "Look, Tracy, I hate to break it to you, but Mia isn't the only thing revolving around Adrian."
"But she is the only one revolving around Lucas' world." Tracy sniggered, laughing after.
"Yeah, that dude is Superman and you're his Kryptonite. Sucks that you have Adrian already." Sara added.
I shook my head. "I picked Adrian, and my decision is irrevocable."
Rica rolled her eyes. "Whatever you say, Mia."
"Well I'm glad she picked Adrian. Lucas would be all clingy and overly-attached." Sara said as-a-matter-of-factly.
"But I am not glad that we are going to leave Mia alone to wait for her boyfriend who--"
"Who needs to pass Chemistry." Rica cut Tracy off. "Come on Trace, Adrian is not a Lucas who would sell his soul to be with Mia every single time."
"And my sister, if you don't mind, is already outside." Sara snapped. "Do you guys want a ride home or do you want to stay here in front of the lockers and be all relationship-conscious?"
I rolled my eyes at her sarcasm. "I swear guys, I'm fine. You all go ahead."
"You heard her," Sara spoke, grabbing the arms of Rica and Tracy with her hands. "Let's go. Bye Mia!"
"Are you sure?" Rica asked, restraining Sara's efforts to pull her. And in return to her question, I nodded and smiled.
Tracy's eyes widened as she was completely dragged away by Sara. "Well shit breaks, good luck Mia!" And finally, their figures are now retreating in the distance.
I sighed, shook my head, and slammed my back against my locker. Pulling out my phone and earphones, I decided to listen to All Time Low for a bit while waiting for Adrian but as usual, life plays with the unfortunate strings of my life.
"Mia!" A familiar voice called. I muttered an unpleasant word under my breath before turning my head to see who called me. And my guess was right--it was Lucas; all smiley, running towards me with a box of something I don't know in his hands.
Pocketing my phone and earphones, I stood up straight. Now I finally know why Tracy's eyes widened--she must've seen Lucas from a distance. "Oh hey, Lucas." I greeted casually.
He stood in front of me with a wide smile and blushed a bit. "Hi, Mia! How was your day?"
My day was going great until you showed up to annoy me. "Fine, I guess, how about yours?"
