*WARNING IN ADVANCE*

I'm absolutely rubbish at writing action. This is also a very long chapter, which makes the story shorter. I'M SORRY.

Third Person

At the Hotel

''Alright. Bye, love you, sweetheart.'' Pepper smiled as she hung up the phone. Lexi-Mae had managed to persuade Dr. Reynolds to call her mom after what she saw on the TV.

Pepper then sat on the edge of the bed in front of Maya. ''Before he built rockets for the Nazis, the idealistic Wernher von Braun dreamed of space travel. He stargazed.'' Maya explained, continuing their conversation from earlier. ''Do you know what he said when the first V-2 hit London? 'The rocket performed perfectly. It just landed on the wrong planet.' See, we all began wide-eyed. Pure science. And then the ego steps in, the obsession. And you look up, you're a long way from shore.''

Pepper sighed, ''You can't be too hard on yourself, Maya. I mean, you gave your research to a think tank.''

''Yeah, but Killian built that think tank on military contacts.'' Maya breathed, on the verge of tears.

''That's exactly what we used to do. So, don't judge yourself.''

''Thank you, Pepper. I really appreciate that.''

Then, there was a knock at the door. Pepper got up and answered it, ''Hi, good evening. Come on in.''

''Good evening.'' The server smiled before his neck was snapped by Aldrich Killian who just randomly showed up, making Pepper gasp.

''Maya, run!'' She yelled just as Aldrich grabbed her and pinned her against the wall, holding her by her throat and restricting her breathing.

''Hi, Pepper.'' He then turned to Maya, ''So, you wanna tell me why you were at Stark's mansion last night?''

''I'm trying to fix this thing. I didn't know you and the master were gonna blow the place up.'' Maya snapped.

''Oh, I see. So, you were trying to save Stark , when he threatened us?''

''I've told you, Killian, we can use him.'' Maya let out a long sigh.

Pepper then reached out at Aldrich to try and get him to let go, ''Pepper. Pepper. Pepper.''

''Look, if we want to launch product next year, I need Stark. He just lacked a decent incentive. Now, he has one.'' Maya huffed.

Lexi-Mae's POV

I must say, this is possibly one of the worst Christmases ever. My dad is missing, I'm stuck in hospital and no one can contact my mom. The Christmas dinner ain't bad for a hospital, though.

All I wanted was for my family to be together on Christmas day, preferably at our home that wasn't blown up, and for us to have fun and for my parents to be stress-free for once. Is that too much to ask?

Of course it is.

Because dad is nowhere to be found.
Mom is un-contactable. I don't even know if that is a word.
And I'm stuck in hospital, bored as heck.

THERE'S ONLY THREE SHOWS ON THE TV, AND THEY AREN'T EVEN KID SHOWS!

Mind you, people do have it worse than me, but still!
