Lavinia Hogwarts hadn't released Draco's hand since he'd first grabbed it in her dormitory, along corridors and up staircases, skirting Mrs Noris and a still-awake Umbridge, all the way to the seventh floor and despite the mammoth distance they travelled, a distance of silence where her shoes didn't make a sound-- she did not come to regret what she was about to do. It may very well have been the most idiotic thing she'd ever done but when she looked into his crying eyes-- she had to believe that she could trust him, that she could save him.
"I am bringing you to someplace that is safe but I need you to trust me," she whispered, "can you do that?" she turned to him, pouring all her skills into that expression. His expression was one of confusion but he nodded. "And I need-- I need to trust you now, I need to trust that no matter what happens, no matter what happens to you or I, no matter what either of us learns or experiences... You will never tell another soul about this. This will be our secret, and ours alone," she whispered on and he stared at her for a beat and a breath longer, and it was so easy to slip into his now-unguarded mind. With so much at stake-- she did not even regret her decision to invade his privacy.
He was testing himself, searching for any slither of mistrust within himself because he was worried about breaking a promise to her. He was searching himself to see if he could do this, if he could honestly agree to keep this a secret for just the two of them. Her heart cracked at his thoroughness, he truly did not wish to wrong her and it shattered everything within her entirely.
"I promise, Lavinia, I promise. I will never tell a soul about this night... And I trust you entirely," he returned and she smiled, taking his other hand gently and backing up. She felt the moment the wall kissed her back, and the moment she walked right through it, it was like liquid silk kissing and caressing over every limb of her. His hands tightened impossibly around hers but she smiled at him as she pushed further back, through the wall and into the Ghost Tower, the lanterns flickering to life all around her.
Pulling gently, she encouraged him forward and soon, he was brought through the wall too, his expression tense. This tower was a secret, one Helena had shared with Christopher and now, Lavinia had shared with Draco. It was no more important than her bedroom, it would never be used by anybody except for them, it was a reprieve that she was too selfish to show to the world. But she showed it to him.
Lavinia softly squeezed his hands and his eyes finally opened, scanning in awe around the beautiful tower platform, from the softly billowing gossamer curtains to the giant expanse of window and stars glinting beyond. Slowly, he pivoted, back to the door that was no longer visible and then around to her and she was overjoyed to see the sadness dim from his eyes slightly. She truly had done this and he was staring at her with a strange intensity as though he'd truly never ever seen her before. It hurt to see.
