•Diagon Alley, London•

Lavinia liked to believe that she knew Draco rather well by now after everything that had happened and they had experienced alongside one another. It was all too easy to tell that he was stressed, even when he wore the body of a relatively nondescript brown-haired wizard, courtesy of polyjuice potion, dressed in the plainest clothes she could scrape together.

Draco had been none-too-pleased at having to dress so minimally for this mission. But when he had seen where they were heading, he was much more content. Lavinia had offered to purchase him a new wardrobe from Twilfiit and Tatting's-- the most prestigious clothing store in Diagon Alley, or so he had told her. Lavinia Matthews, as the goblins of Gringotts had reliably informed, was a very very wealthy girl. Her velvet pouches of coins that her parents had stockpiled in various hidden rooms and locations around the castle, were worth so much more here-- and she had already gathered large supplies, her parents had left her a fortune. So, buying Draco a new wardrobe was the least she could do for Christmas, especially if he was never going to be able to go home.

The nervousness, however, was not due to fabrics and linens as he chose articles for himself and her-- apparently, her wardrobe needed updating if she ever wished to be seen in public with him again. The woman in the store had first looked rather oddly at them, Lavinia in the body of Cora, until she had smiled and whispered that she was Lavinia. As usual, the daughter of Hogwarts had a very carefully crafted plan, though she could not take responsibility for all of it... It was mostly, after all, the work of the Order.

Shopping was just helpful, needed coverup for everything else they had to do that day. After weeks of back and forth communication, Dumbledore had finally arranged a meeting between Andromeda Tonks, Draco and his mother. It would likely be full of tension and angry spitting words but Draco and his auntie were convinced that they could turn their mother's mind to their side. Lavinia knew how much this meant to him, she could see it on his face the very moment she had told him and it only intensified as he reunited with Andromeda after so many years-- the woman was currently doing some shopping of her own, again disguised. It was not safe for anybody to travel as themselves anymore.

Once, beside the Black Lake, Draco had told Lavinia that he did not know what he would do without his mother and Lavinia knew that even with Sirius and now, Eltanin, it still continued to be something that plagued his mind and worried him. He missed her, the mother who meant so much to him. Today was perhaps one of the most important days since she had awoken and it did not even have anything to do with the mission. Still, there were many things she could do in Diagon Alley while that particularly awkward encounter ensued.

"Do you like this blouse?" Draco asked, seemingly calmly but even in the body of somebody else, she could see how tense he was. When had she grown to know him so well? She wasn't sure when it had happened or when they had gotten so close. But Lavinia was overjoyed still that they had, even if her fears about Pansy from the previous night continued to probe her brain. "I believe it will suit you," he mused, turning his new eyes to her and she missed the ashy grey they had once been. The sooner they were back, the better.

"It is nice," Lavinia nodded, taking it with newly freckled hands, turning it over to look at the back. It was different from what she usually wore but perhaps a change was needed. How long could she continue to dress so oddly? It had highlighted her as somebody different and Draco had noticed, even if that had eventually turned out to be a good thing. "Pass me your things, I will purchase them," she ushered and Draco quirked a brow at her.
