Quinton Newman I eat rather slowly. Not on purpose but I suppose because of Lena who was hardly eating at all. Normally we could eat in a comfortable silence and just talk, but there was nothing. It felt awkward. It might've just been me but I don't know how much longer I can stand it.
"Quint," she says, sipping her water.
"Yes?"
"Have you...." her face seems...nervous. Unpredictable almost, but I ignore it. "Quinton have you had a girlfriend?"
...what?
That's a little too random for me to not be concerned but...just her asking that after hours of figuring some news out is just..enough.
I raise my brow. "Why would you like to know?"
"I don't know.." she sighs, "I just want to feel like it's normal to have not.."
"Have not what?"
She blows a raspberry and avoids eye contact and lowers her tone. "Have not been...in a relation..ship.."
Her tone was a little too low. "...what?"
"I haven't..been in a relationship...before. I mean, it's probably not a big deal and all but, just wondering."

"I have..yeah. Once when I was 16 and another a year later when I was 17. Not now...obviously. A relationship just isn't what I need right now. But it's completely normal to have not had a relationship before, I can assure you."
"Some old friends were mocking me about it and it just felt weird to me. I don't like myself very much you know..but I just wanted to know about you." She takes a small bite of her green beans.
