You know that I always believe in the classics catalogue to liven up our days. The principle for doing so is simple: the great songs need to be among us and within us as social mementos of a whole era forged not just by the past but fit for present and future posterity. Great songs, in fact, manage to outstay their immediate eras and my HALL OF FAME is directed in that regard.

So here are my latest additions to this canon of writings.

LINDA RONSTADT'S DIVERSE, ETERNALLY VERSATILE OEUVRE

What can I say about Ms. Ronstadt? Words bely her versatile output and as I have said it again and again, the current generation needs to be charmed by her chameleonic yet one of a kind vocal prowess.

She dabbled in all styles and tones in the course of  an inimitable and illustrious career, from handling classic standards with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra ( the unit behind some of Frank Sinatra's greatest hits that she and we love) such as WHAT'S NEW and I'VE GOT A CRUSH ON YOU to reviving the covers of benchmarks by the likes of EAGLES ( DESPERADO), THE ROLLING STONES ( TUMBLING MAN) or the MCGARRIGLE SISTERS( HEART LIKE A WHEEL)

Tender piano ballads, rock/pop chartbusters like GET CLOSER and her record breaking, iconic homage to her Mexican-American ancestry in the album cycle of CANCIONES DE MI PADRE(SONGS OF MY FATHER) blaze a trail for listeners the world over.
