𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐘 𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐄:

"my heart will always beat for you, and only you"

They neared the camp that Danes have built. On their way there the group saw Cnut and a significant part of his army riding in the direction of the village where they were supposed to be.

"Once the night falls, even the king of shadow walkers would find no place here." Zari had to agree with Osferth's comment. After that Finan noticed someone approaching the place where they were hiding causing them to move deeper into the bushes. The woman could not help but feel like she recognizes the person approaching and soon after that Osferth confirmed her doubts. Sihtric appeared behind the trees and Uhtred stepped forward to greet him.

"You have something to say to me, boy?"

"I do." With that, he pulled out his sword and pointed at Uhtred. "Yield to me."

Zari was shocked when Uhtred raised his hands in surrender and dropped his dagger, it seemed that Osferth was too for he started at the fallen dagger in confusion. What happened next shocked them even more; Sihtric dug his sword into the ground and both men walked forward to hug each other, laughing.

"You were playing us." A realization fell over Osferth's face. "My goddess, they were playing us, Finan, Zari!" He nudged first Finan the Zari, then turned to face Uhtred. "Why?" Finan went to greet Sihtric while Zari was still standing there with an unreadable expression on her face.

"If you had not believed it, nor would others," Uhtred answered while laughing.

"I fooled you."

Finan tried to act as if he knew about this plan, but everyone knew he believed in their little act.

"Zari how could you not-" Osferth turned to face the woman and was already asking her how she did not notice it was all an act when he abruptly stopped upon seeing the glare on the blonde's face.

How did she not perceive this? All those feelings were true and genuine, at least, she thought they were. Everyone turned to the only woman in the group to see the death glare she was directing their way and suddenly Uhtred and Sihtric started to regret their plan. Zari slowly walked forward the two pointing a finger at them.

"I don't like when I am played like that." Her voice dropped low. Accent ticker than ever. When she was close enough her glare softened a bit. "How did you do that?" She expressed her question in pure confusion, tilting her head to the side. The two warriors eased up a bit after the glare was exchanged for confusion. They were not ready to endure the woman's wrath. Not today. Then again, that day will most probably never come. "I mean, I feel everything. I should have felt that it was just an act." She ended her rant with a scoff. It seemed that her rant amused the group.
