Hyeju learned not to hate it all so much, there were interesting parts about being in the play. All her friends were there anyways, so it's not like she would've found something more fun to do.Plus, Chaewon. Surprisingly, it hadn't been awkward after their get together, Chaewon hadn't mentioned it so Hyeju hadn't either. They still had a long ways to go in terms of their chemistry and natural acting, but they weren't completely inept around each other anymore, so that was something.
Hyeju sometimes wondered if Chaewon ever meant anything she said when they were acting. If her heart skipped a beat when they locked eyes like Hyeju's did. Probably not, Chaewon was probably already seeing a boy, maybe from that school she talked about. Hyeju didn't want to get her hopes up.
This time, Hyeju did actually read through the entire script. She had to, the cast was on a very tight schedule and there was no time for her to fool around. Although she did have a lot of lines, Hyeju found that she was able to memorize them quicker that she thought she'd be able to. Memorizing wasn't the problem, it was the way all of the lines immediately left her head when she looked at Chaewon.
Even Heejin had noticed it, Hyeju preformed proficiently in scenes without Chaewon, but as soon as the two were on stage together, she became a forgetful, stuttering mess. It was laughable to the tech members and even to the rest of the cast, how flustered Hyeju would get. It didn't take a genius to figure out there was a crush somewhere between them. Apparently Chaewon was completely oblivious to it though, and Hyeju was both thankful for it and slightly impressed that every time she was nervous, Chaewon seemed to think it was something else. She'd always try and help Hyeju relax, which unbeknownst to her, only helped Hyeju's nerves skyrocket.
"All I'm saying is, if Mother Gothel has a source of immortality, she's not going to sit around all day with Rapunzel. Mother Gothel needs a hot wife,"
"For the last time Jinsoul," Heejin groaned, closing her eyes and pressing her fingers to the bridge of her nose. "You don't get to change the script,"
"This is such a minor change!" Jinsoul insisted with a smile and joking lilt to her voice. "Come on, one of the maids can be my wife! Maybe Jungeun..."
"Jinsoul!" Heejin shouted over her rambling. "You don't need a wife. That has literally nothing to do with the plot, if anything it worsens it,"
Jinsoul narrowed her eyes. "That's homophobic, Heejin,"
"It's not," Hyunjin snorted.
"Sounds like something a homophobe would say," Jinsoul concluded. "Don't you think, Hyeju?"
"Don't bring me into this," Hyejoo said immediately.
The cast was supposed to be doing a run through of the whole show, just to see if it would run smoothly and if they had all the scenes blocked relatively well. They didn't, of course, it had turned into a hot mess almost as soon as it had started. Chaewon hadn't shown up yet, Yubin wasn't off book and Jinsoul, in true Jinsoul fashion, was being endearingly difficult.
"You know you're still supposed to be like an 100 year old woman, it would be weird for you to have a wife who's like 20," Hyunjin said.
"Maybe my wife is into milfs," Jinsoul shrugged. "You're into older girls, aren't you Jungeun?"
Jungeun turned bright red. "I'm straight,"
"Since when?" Chaewon's voice echoed across the theater, and Hyeju looked up to see the brunette walking onto the stage with a bright smile.
"Chaewon. Shut. up," Jungeun said through clenched teeth.
"I knew it," Jinsoul said smugly, she moved closer to Jungeun, and Hyeju could see the blonde tense significantly and look away, towards Hyeju. Hyejoo could practically see Jungeun begging for help with her eyes, which was funny because Jungeun could've easily gotten away if she wished. She just didn't resist when Jinsoul's face was inches from hers.
