SAVED BY THE DEVIL

It had been nearly two weeks and the man who called himself the devil remained unconscious. Luciana had spent her days by his side, attending his needs for when he would awaken.

Lucy had sat beside his bed, holding his hand and praying he would be okay. It made her laugh, the idea of her praying to the devil's father, praying for him to forgive him for what he's done. Forgive him for wanting to be loved.

"It's been a week since you've slept Lucy, you need to rest," The voice of Rox filled her ears as she entered the room.

Luciana simply shook her head as she kept her gaze on Thomas. A frown rested on her lips as she stared at his sleeping figure, his dark bags and hollow cheeks made her sigh. The devil was meant to be a strong, evil man but the man who laid before her seemed small, weak.

"I'm not tired." Lucy responded making Rox roll her eyes. It had been the only thing she was able to say the past few days. Rox and Itzalli had tried their best in convincing her to rest because they knew when Thomas would awaken, the half dead look on Lucy's face would cause him worry.

Rox took a seat beside Luciana as she stared at her king. Sadness pumped through her veins as she leaned over and caressed his face. It wounded her to see him. Seeing the man that had been her friend for decades lying unconscious. She wanted nothing more than to switch places with him, make his pain hers.

"He's never been like this," Rox said as she stared at her king, "Thomas has always had a reaction to his father and siblings. He loves them Lucy, he loves them with all  his being but how could he love the one thing that causes him constant pain?".

Luciana kept her gaze on Thomas as Rox continued, "Thomas cares for his family, ever since he was casted out to be our king, he always found a way to catch their attention. Whether it was good or bad, Thomas just wanted to be seen by his family. Everytime his father would punish him, it made the darkness within him grow and sooner, we were the only ones who saw him."

Rox felt a smile form on the corner of her lips as she moved her gaze to Lucy. The sun was setting and the remaining sunlight illuminated around the room. Luciana's features were enlightened making her cheekbones seem more prominent and her lips more full. Rox felt her heart flutter as she watched a human stare at her king with nothing but pure love in her eyes.

It amazed how such a weak creature could have fallen in love with the devil in such little time. Luciana had only been there for seven months, which she didn't notice as time in hell passed by quicker than in the mortal world. Rox knew Lucy being here compromised the devil's purpose but as she sat here, watching the way she caressed his hand, she knew Lucy would make a great queen one day.

"Will he be okay?" Lucy questioned making Rox wake up from her trance.

A sigh left her lips as she focused back on her king, "Time will tell Lucy. He's in pain, he's trying to heal himself but he's scared."

Lucy turned her head to look at Rox, "Scared? What could the devil possibly be scared of?".

Rox turned to Lucy and gave her a soft smile. She watched as Lucy's eyebrows scrunched up in confusion, such a curious creature, she thought to herself. Letting out another sigh, she turned to her king, a knowing look rested in her eyes as she watched him breath slowly. Rox had known since the moment the devil heard the desperate calls of a broken girl in need of help, he would finally know his worst fear.

"He's scared of loving you," Rox said after a moment of silence. She felt Lucy's wide eyed stare making her chuckle softly as she turned to look at her, "He's afraid of loving you Lucy because he knows you'll love him back and he knows you're not his to keep."

Luciana had a rage look in her eyes, "Why does everyone keep saying that? Why can't I be his?."

Rox watched as Lucy glared daggers at her but she knew Lucy couldn't hurt a mouse even if she wanted to. Lucy was a sweet girl who had killed the monster that had tormented her. Roxanne knew the moment her father was killed, he had been sent to a special place in hell for men who thought they owned the world.

She had been part of his personal torture. Roxanne had enjoyed ripping his limbs piece by piece and sound of his yells filled the craving inside of her. Itzalli and Rox had made a silent agreement on protecting Luciana the moment the Devil had left hell for her. They both knew that Lucy's soul wouldn't be tainted by the blood of her father, Luciana had protected herself against the monster.

"Do you know how pure your soul is Lucy? You have this glow that makes us starve for your purity. The Devil himself couldn't hold back to such a sweet temptation that he just had to look at up from up close. Luciana you are a pure soul, someone who has done nothing wrong in this world and could you imagine what darkness could do to it?" Rox stared her king with a frown, "He wants nothing more than to have you by his side but how could he ruin the one thing that makes him happy. For you Lucy, you have been here for weeks but reality you have been here for months and each day you have grown on him, on us."

Luciana remained silent as she moved her gaze back to Devil. She watched as he breathed softly, his chest barely moving. She was astonished at how dead yet alive he looked.

Thomas had a dark glow to him that made everyone shiver at the sight of him but to Lucy, his glow made her feel like she was finally safe.
