Tendou had brought us to a little park beside our school where he said we could practice, or rather I teach Shirabu. There was a playground too so that's where we decided to head to. There was a lot of concrete paving the paths to and from it so that's where it would be best to practice.
Shirabu and Ushijima sat on the swings and Goshiki ate his crisps as he watched. Shirabu had insisted he needed absolutely no help to stay on the skateboard so he refused me when I tried to hold him steady. Of course, the idiot fell off immediately but since I had anticipated it I caught him.
"Thanks"
"Anytime, dummy"
This time, he agreed to holding my hands as he got on. His hands were cold, colder than they should be. It wasn't particularly chilly but I guess he must have been. He got on the skateboard and this time he managed to stay on it for a solid 10 seconds before falling forwards. I caught him once again.
"You cold?"
"Not really..." I could tell he was lying. He had shorts and a t shirt on and it was around 3.30am so it was quite cold. I had a hoodie and my volleyball jacket on so I decided to give my hoodie to him. Completely platonic of course. I took it off and handed it to him.
"Huh?"
"Just... take it. You're cold I can tell."
"Thanks..." he took it and pulled it over his head, visibly relaxing a bit. It was quite big on him... it was oversized on me so on him it looked more like a hoodie-dress but in a cute way.
I did not just call him cute.
No.
"It smells like you" he commented and tried to get on the skateboard once again.
"It uh... huh?" I ran to hold his hands again before he took a bad fall and hit his head on the concrete.
"I said it smells like you."
"Is that a compliment or..."
"Yes, Semi. It's a compliment. You smell nice. It's comforting in a way" I couldn't help but smile at his words and soft tone. He usually didn't act like this, it may be the fact it was so late and it was past his point of caring of maybe he actually had warmed up to me. "Now come on teach me, stupid" talk about a tsundere. I rolled my eyes and continued telling him how to stand.
Thirty minutes later, he could successfully stand on his own and push it without falling. He was a very fast learner, I hate to admit.
"Now teach me a trick!"
"Shirabu... I- you're a fast learner okay? But I don't know if that's a good idea"
"Why" he pouted like a three year old. It was slightly cute though.
"Because. The next thing to learn is an ollie. It took me three months to get mine and in the process I sprained my ankle and fractured my wrist"
"Yikes. Well I guess I'll have to show you I'm just good and better than you"
"Fine." He stepped off and did an over-dramatic gesture to show I should demonstrate. So I did. He watched carefully, I could expect nothing less. Once I was finished explaining, he got on and did...something. It was the correct movement but he didn't really lift it up. He continued trying for a while.
There was a dog walker aproaching. It was now around 5am so it was dawning and some early risers were passing ever so often. Shirabu tried to get the skateboard out of their way but not before the dog could start sniffing it. He pushed it slightly with his nose and that was enough to send it down one of the paths. Shirabu groaned as he had to chase it and I decided to help. However, we hadn't noticed there was a lake right at the end of the path. He sent me an 'oh shit' look and ran full speed. However, he didn't make it in time and my skateboard took a plunge.
"Uh... Semi? What do we do"
"We uh... fuck this" I took off my jacket and shoes, removed my phone from my pocket and handed it to Shirabu.
"You wouldn't..."
"I will" I said and ran to the dock. Without hesitation I jumped into the water, my father got me that skateboard before he passed away there's no way I'd leave it to rot at the bottom of a lake because of some dog. This is why I was a cat person.
After some swimming around I finally touched it. The lake wasn't deep, I could actually stand and the water only came up to my shoulders. I took it out the water and threw it on the ground beside Shirabu.
"I'm not gonna lie Semi, that was pretty badass. But you smell like lake water."
"I wonder why. I guess it's a good thing I gave you that hoodie beforehand then, isn't it" he blushed and turned away a little. I tried my best to dry off but it was no good.
"Okay uh what do you wanna do. I could give you my shorts. This hoodie covers me up pretty well. And you could just wear your jacket over the top." It's true, the hoodie went nearly to his knees. But still, I couldn't really ask him to do that. "Also, is that eyeliner?"
"What?"
"Oh my gosh you wear eyeliner?"
"So?"
"It's cool"
"...thanks" I decided to not take his shorts and, instead, trudged back to Tendou and Ushijima, fully soaked.
Tendou laughed his ass off as he watched us climb back up the hill to the playground. Ushijima was in the playhouse now, asleep, Goshiki leaning on his shoulder also passed out. Our little Kouhai sure did a lot of sleeping.
"What happened to you two?"
"Well a dog pushed my skateboard into a lake-"
"And you DIVED to get it? You're so stupid SEMISEMI"
"I tried to tell him it wasn't a good idea"
"We should head back... I'm cold"
"I'll go wake Wakatoshi-kun" Tendou skipped away and laughed as he woke the two up. He told them the story and even Ushijima laughed a little. We head back to the school. It was getting close to 5.30 so some people would be awake by now. Hopefully, no one noticed me, completely soaked.
As we head to the dorms we saw a familiar two figures.
"Uh guys? What happened..." Reon looked between the five of us. I didn't know what he was talking about until now.
Goshiki had imprints from the trolley all over his face and his hair was sticking out in weird angles. He was also STILL being pushed in the trolley itself. Tendou had leaves stuck in his hair, from when he told me he fell asleep on the grass for a solid hour. Ushijima's hair was also sticking out at weird angles and he was covered in dirt from the playhouse . Shirabu's face was red and was still wearing my hoodie which seemed to drown him and had a few cuts on his face from when he fell on a tree branch and another one on his shin from grazing it on a rock. And I, well, soaking with seaweed, or lakeweed (?), in my hair and black eyeliner streaming down my face. To top it all off, our eyes were bloodshot from the lack of sleep.
"You don't want to know" I laughed.
