"Y/N!" Newt comes run/limping over to you. "Thomas wants to be a runner." This kid definitely has a death wish. "Did they come back yet? The runners?" He shakes his head. You frown. "They'll come back, they always do. They're the best ones we've had." You nod. "Now get back to work. Alby will kill me if he sees me talking to you while you're supposed to be working." You chuckle as he walks away. He's an idiot.

Later that day it started raining. You're all standing under a shelter waiting for the runners to return. As the closing time nears, the more anxious you get. "What if they don't come back." Thomas asks Newt. You look at Newt worried. "They will." A few minutes later you see a figure carrying a limp body running to enter the Glade. The maze was closing quickly. "They're not gonna make it!" You say. Thomas runs and enters the maze just before it closes. "Ah yes. Improvised suicide." Newt looks at you. "He's definitely got a death wish." He says.

That night, you were restless. You kept tossing and turning. "Y/N are you okay?" Newt says from the hammock beneath you. You wanted to ask him if Thomas and Minho were going to make it but you already knew the answer. No one survives a night in the maze. "Yea I just can't sleep." You say which was half true. You hear him get out of his hammock. You sit up to look at him. "Aren't you coming?" He asks. You smile and climb down.

The earth is still wet and the smell of rain lingered in the air. "So why did you bring me out here this time? We can't lay on the grass." He looks you dead in the eyes and motions his head to the lookout. You laugh and shake your head as he takes your hand and runs with you to the tree.
