I was starting to grow annoyed with the whole situation, not that it was a new satiation really. At least back then he had Ms. Argent beside him. Ms. Argent could easily keep the two red head siblings in line, alone it was impossible. Then add the small fact that Ms. Argent is missing to the mix, it was a complete disaster.
And then there is the appearance of one Carmen Sandiego from time to time, doing what she has always done. Show up, make his life a bit harder and then just disappear into the shadows once more. This made controlling the siblings a lot harder too, since all they want to do is follow their old boss. The whole thing is a mystery and it's growing more and more annoying. And doesn't add the fact about the weird little comments the lady in red have dropped when he's around her.
In this moment, he really wishes he had some pain killers with him because the chaos happening around him in this moment will be his end. Crime-net had located a new location where V.I.L.E will show up, which means the siblings wanted to take this mission on themselves for two reasons. Try and find who took Ms. Argent and to see if Carmen Sandiego have managed to find her yet. Which meant he had to got with them since he's a senior agent and someone had to keep an eye on the two of them and they don't allow any other A.C.M.E agent to go with them.
"There he goes!"
Chase shakes his head as Zack and Ivy runs past him for the third time, still trying to get hold of one Neal the eel. It was going horrible, and Chase starts to wounder just how the two of the managed to get this far, then again, it seemed that Carmen Sandiego was the one to deal with all the V.I.E.L agents. Feeling a presence walking up beside him, Chase grows tense. He had not heard anyone open the door behind him and he knew he shouldn't have let his guard down like this.
Glancing towards the side, he calms down as he sees who have placed themselves beside him. Only to realize his headache is about to grow to a whole now level. Taking out his mints, he pops one into his mouth, hopping at least that will help him relax slightly.
"How long have the been going ad it?"
The lady in red asks, her eyes on her two best friends as they try to capture the eel, only to fail every try.
"Far too long."
He answers, arms crossing in the progress as he decides to lean towards the door. Just incase someone else decide to sneak up on him. At least this way he will be falling backwards and hopefully his partners would realize something is wrong.
"Well, just tell them to give it a rest or use some olive oil."
Carmen points out with a shake of her head. Chase takes this opportunity to really study the woman beside him. There's no trace of happiness in her feature, he's quite sure that she would be smiling big seeing her friends struggling like this. This was a whole new side to the woman he had spent so many hours trying to arrest, a side he had never even thought would be there, and he had seen the evil side of her.
"You know as well as I do that they won't stop until they either get a hold of him or they are sure the artifacts are safe and sound."
Chase points out, only to freeze up as a tube is being hold up in front of him. How he had missed that Carmen Sandiego had been holding on to something like this the whole time is far beyond him.
"Handle it with care Devineaux, they are fragile."
She tells him, looking at the tube once more, he grabs hold if it without most care.
"And do me a favor, notify the security that they really need to step up their security. It was far too easy-to-get in."
Hearing this, Chase looks at Carmen with narrowed eyes. He should have known she had broken into the place instead of just using the front door like there rest of them.
"Jules would have understood."
Carmen adds before heading off for the shadows once more. Hearing that line and thinking back to what Carmen had said just before that, something klicks. She had said the same thing in Italy, but it was one special word that stood out in all of this. He isn't sure he's right and the only way he can get a proper answer is to call one person.
Turning his attention back to Zack and Ivy once more, he's confident neither of them will even notice he's gone. After all, neither of them had realized that Carmen had been in the same room just moments go. With that in mind, Chase sneaks off to the side, once he's sure his alone and no one can see him, he pulls out his pen and activates it. The hologram of Chief standing in front if him just a few seconds later.
"Agent Devineaux, how's everything going?"
Holding up the tube, he can see the woman in front of him grow calmer before looking around herself.
"They are still trying to capture Neal the eel."
Chase explains before Chief has a chance to ask where the rest of his team is. He can see how the leader of A.C.M.E rolls her eyes at this news.
"Well, is there a special reason why you are calling me now then Agent Devineaux? Otherwise, I would recommend you return back to help your fellow agents."
"Have agent Argent been with Carmen Sandiego this whole time?"
This question made the hologram woman make a double take; she must have been about to end the call when he had asked it. It's clear now that she doesn't know what to do or think. Turning her attention back to Chase once more, he can see the confusion in her eyes.
"Excuse me?"
"I'm asking if agent Argent have been with Carmen Sandiego this whole time?"
He repeats his question, a question that both sounds ridiculous and true at the same time.
"What would make you think agent Argent is with Carmen Sandiego?"
"Le femme rouge said something today as she dropped of the artifacts, she said that Jules would have understand. Which got me thinking, this isn't the first time she has referred to agent Argent in that way and I'm quite sure not many people within V.I.E.L would know about the nickname. The only four that have ever seen them close together are the once in Egypt and I'm quite sure Ms. Sandiego wouldn't have used the nickname then and there. It would have shown them a weakness they could use. That's why I think all of this is a setup from Ms. Sandiego's side to spend more time with agent Argent."
He explains, going over everything that have been going through his own mind just minutes before the talk. Saying it out loud made it sound even more true. But he could still not be sure about this.
"It's sounds like an elevated plan just to spend time with someone."
Chief starts to explain, she holds up a hand to silent him when Chase is about to complain.
"However, I will look into it right away. For now, get your team out of there and head for the hotel. And I would recommend you not telling them anything. If this turns out to be false, I do not want to deal with the after match."
She orders and Chase nods his head, he could only imagine what would happen if they thought for a second that Ms. Argent is safe and sound with Carmen Sandiego and the in turns out she's not. It would destroy them even more.
"Understood."
"Good, I'll call you once I have found something."
Chief tells him before the call ends. Taking a deep breath, he leans down to pick up the pen. It's time to break up the sprinting party the two siblings are having right now.
