"You know you don't have to keep eating here anymore right? You have your own office."
It's been a while since Levi received his own office as the janitor for Titan Highschool and although it was a place he enjoyed, somehow he always came back to the football field.
He knew it was a terrible place to eat. Underneath the football bleachers was the place where you could find leftovers of last week's football games. Birds picking around the bread of the now discomposing hotdogs and lots of gum. Even condoms sometimes but Levi swears to never clean this place unless it was necessary.
"I know ... I just like the fresh air."
You look around the place and frowned.
"Eating around a pile of shit is what you call fresh air?"
Alright, Levi had to give it to you, you had a point.
It was a bit awkward in between you two and if you were completely honest, you didn't know why. Levi had talked to you about what happened with the Ackermans at their home and how he had decided to pair up with Nicholas to find ... her.
Either or you still had to figure out your next steps. Whether to tell him nor or ...
"Anyways, the principal is going to be making its inspections next week," you say as you take a seat next to Levi in the grass. This could have been more romantic if it wasn't because the place was filled with wasted food. "What is going to be your plan next?"
"... I am going to break off things with Erwin," Levi says. "I don't see the point of continuing ... our relationship or whatever we have if ... He doesn't feel the same."
"I don't understand, if you love him shouldn't you fight for him?" you ask as his response surprised you a little. It seems as if that small trip with Nicholas had changed a part of him.
"Yes but I can't force him to be with me and being with him hurts me now," Levi doesn't look your way although you paid attention to every single detail of his movements. "I will be happy if he is happy ... I don't have to have him. Just watching him from afar ... watching him accomplish his dreams ... that's enough for me."
A couple of seconds went by in silence. You tried to not breathe in too much as the smell of the fumes of decomposed food began to make its way into your nostrils. You wanted to say something, maybe something encouraging because this was a great step for him.
It seems like therapy was helping him as well since getting advice from her friend Leah always helped her as well. Maybe Levi could even see now all the endless possibilities that were around him.
"Besides ... I am trying to open up to new possibilities," he says and this time you see him advert his eyes away from. A little bit of red in his cheeks and his leg trembled a little as he scratched his cheek.
"I know you like me ... So I was thinking ... that maybe we-"
"Hey, guys!"
It wasn't the perfect moment but your favorite chemistry professor was here, Hange Zoe. Her positive attitude was something you admired and she offers the best advice.
"Don't you two want to join us for lunch with the rest of us?"
.
.
.
It made you happy to see that Levi was having a good time at the professor's lounge. He didn't seem bothered by all the random questions everyone was asking him and if you didn't know him any better, you could tell that he was trying to make friends.
