Toxic Temptation

Just one touch, one kiss
surely wouldn't cause anything amiss?

I should have stopped pursuing her ages ago
but her delicate beauty tempted me so.

My skin should touch no one
but even a monster like me craves love.

My name, Lycoris, the title of a poisonous bloom
a single brush would cause them doom.

My eyes glow red as blood
poison pumping in my veins like a flood.

I bite my lip and squeeze my fist
and give in to every temptation on my list.

Soft and smooth, pale skin like the Moon
Esper and human, in that dark room.

I have opened a forbidden door
entering a world I must explore.

In her warm embrace, I thought
this must be Heaven, is it not?

The two of us slept together
but one of us went to sleep forever.

Author's Note: This poem is based more on the concept of an Esper than the actual character depicted, as Lycoris does not appear in either of the Arcadia Zero novels, and an Esper with poison powers is only vaguely mentioned in the sequel. Lycoris is an Esper woman whose ability is the power to produce and manipulate poisons, so much that her blood and even her skin is poisonous.

Update: Lycoris finally has a novel of her own! The long-awaited Poison Princess, available to read here: https://www.wattpad.com/story/308678991-poison-princess

A shortened and slightly altered version of this poem also exists in this story.
