Tw! Mentions of violence!

The night was beautiful. Stars scattered across the black skyscape, interconnected with invisible webbing. It was brighter than ever, with the moon being full, and almost the entire town below them on a power outage. It was peaceful. Lifting the cigarette up to his lips, he took a puff, watching the smoke disappear into the darkness. He wanted to be out there. Out of his human body. Out of this stupid trailer.

A small creak made him turn around to glance into the tiny kitchen, and there was Kenny, standing in the hallway. His younger brother- foster brother, really. His eyes narrowed, and he turned to take another puff.

"Mom says you can't smoke. Your only 17." Kenny whisper-snapped, walking into the kitchen to stand besides the older boy. Toby could feel his eyes latch onto the thick scars he had slashed across his face, neck and shoulders. Scowling, he leaned against the windowseal and peered out at the mountain opposite of the town.

"It calms me down. I'd rather do this then smash shit with a hammer or something." He waved the cigarette around, watching the tip glow faintly. Kenny rolled his eyes before hopping up onto the counter besides him, leaning out the window as well.

For a long while, they sat in silence, staring up at the sky, before Kenny cleared his throat. "Ok I know I've asked this question a million times and you always act like an ass hat when I ask, but I really wanna know because my mom doesn't even know." Toby cringed at the use of "my mom".

"I'm not sure I'm gonna answer it now then." He said dryly. Kenny continued on anyway.

"Where did you get the scars?" Toby let out a long groan, resting his forehead on his arms. This stupid question. Kenny asked him about a million of the same questions a day, but of course it had to be this one. He shot the young boy a glare.

"You really wanna know? Really really?" Kenny nodded, eyes widening. "My.. dad, if I can even call him that, came at me with an axe." He said bluntly, lifting his head up and taking a puff of smoke. For a second, Kenny's eyes were wide with wonder, before his brows furrow.

"But then you'd be dead. There's like- no way you could survive that." Toby sighed. "Your head would be caved in."

"Unfortunately, I did. Because of some stupid thing, that I never asked for." He waved his arm around the cool night air, feeling his hair stand up on end. Kenny perked up.

"What is that thing? Your ugliness?" Kenny snickered slightly and Toby smacked him hard in the back of the head.

"Thanks jackass." He snarled. "No, something that would make you piss your pants." He smirked slightly, tapping the cigarette on the edge of the counter before dropping it out the window. Kenny rolled his eyes, watching the cigarette drop.

"I don't think much could scare me." He huffed, leaning out the window to stare out at the trees. They listened to the crickets for a moment before Toby got up, and trotted out the camper door.

"Hey, wait!" Kenny scampered after him, doing his best to let the door shut silently behind him. Toby was running now, into the thick woods, his bare feet crunching on the pine needles. He could barely hear Kenny crashing after him. The wind whipped past his limbs and face, nipping at his ears. Grinning, he started to leave his human body. He was free to go now. The trees grew smaller, pine needles turning into a soft cushion rather than painful thorns. He slowed, turning in a circle to glance back at the trailer. He could peer over the trees now, seeing the window they had just been at.

He could hear Kenny yelling his name, crashing through the forest with almost no light to guide him. He felt a small stab of pity for abandoning him, but he didn't really care. He dropped to his hands and knees, waiting as the small figure grew closer and closer..

Kenny didn't seem to notice Toby until he glanced up, perhaps to check if the moon was visible, and was instead greeted by his massive face. He let out a loud, startled yelp and skidded to a stop, basically under Toby now. He crashed onto his back, letting out a long wheeze as the wind rushed out of him.

Toby's face stretched into a grin as Kenny tried to catch his breath, fear visible in his eyes. "Boo." He chuckled, and Kenny gasped, trying to scramble backwards. He moved his hand to block him, his tiny back bumping against his palm and he let out another gasp. "Surprise! This is me." He said sarcastically, pinching the kids over-sized T-shirt between his fingers and lifting him up- much easier now.

Kenny let out a yelp, scrambling to yank the collar away from his neck. Whoops. He forgot that could choke people. He sat up, dropping the kid rather carelessly into his other hand, where they scrambled back as much as possible without falling off.

"Pissed your pants yet?" He said mockingly, poking Kenny in the side with a finger, earning him another yelp. "I'm not gonna do anything to you, calm your titties."

For a long moment Kenny just stared up at him with wide, terrified and curious eyes, before his mouth opened, closed, then he finally spoke.

"Holy fuck mother what." He said simply. Toby gave him a mock glare, poking his chest again and he flinched.

"Mom told you not to swear." Toby mock scolded, putting on a rather annoying tone of voice. Despite how terrified Kenny looked, he let out a snicker.

"Holy hell- your like-.." For a moment all Kenny could do was wave his arms around, eyes widening. Toby let out a breathy chuckle.

"A-yup. 40 fucking feet, give or take a few." His chest puffed up slightly, placing his free hand on his hip.

"Oh god, Jesus, no wonder this is the 'stupid thing'! People probably hate you!" Toby knew Kenny didn't mean anything rude with those words, but he felt himself deflate.

"I don't show anyone, idiot," Toby snapped, "And this part isn't what I hate. I love this. It's nice, nobody can boss you around, you can do almost anything. It feels good." He huffed, glaring down at Kenny who had a crestfallen look on his face. "I hate being, like. Human. Everything sucks. You have to follow the rules. You feel weak." He spat the last word out. "People treat you like a monster even when your not. I'd rather know I'm a full fledged freak and be yelled at than not know what's wrong with me."

Kenny listened with wide eyes, before slowly nodding. "Oh. Woah. Wow. That's weird." The kid was obviously at a loss of words, unsure of what to say. Toby let out a long sigh, rubbing his temple.

"Let's go home." He muttered, wrapping his fingers around Kenny, who let out a small yelp and smacked at his fingers.

"Wait, come on!" He yelped. "I have more questions! This is super cool!" Toby chuckled slightly, poking the kid in the forhead.

"I'll answer them at home. In bed." He slowly got to his feet, Kenny gasping as he was suddenly lifted up.

"But that's BORING." Kenny shoved uselessly against his fingers as he trudged through the small forest back towards their camper. Toby pinched his wrists between two fingers, preventing Kenny from trying to smack his hand anymore.

"We can come out some other night. I know you don't even go to school." Kenny scowled, before perking up.

"Can I bring my friends?" He grinned, trying to yank his hands free. "They'd be super pumped to know this!"

Toby snorted. "No."

AAAA I really freaking love this chapter! Toby and Kenny are both really old ocs from different universes, but recently I brought them back and realized they kind of fit perfectly together! I'm definitely gonna use them again, especially Toby. This also might be my longest chapter?? Idk it feels like it pfft
