Chapter 16

I'm awoken to loud bangs coming from outside. I sit up and look around me to notice everyone's awake. Gabriel has his arm wrapped around my waist.

"Come on, we have to go!" Zehn Zehn says.

We get back changed into our clothes and I really quickly tie up my h/l h/c into a messy bun. We run down stairs and see Dariush still asleep on the couch.

"Dariush, get up!" Zehn Zehn shouts at him while I shake him awake.

"W-what?" He asks, still half asleep.

"Get up and get changed, hurry we don't have a lot of time!" Gabriel tells him hurriedly.

*time skip*

We're now out the house, wondering through sheets that have been placed on the washing line. Something doesn't feel right about this. I realise I've lost site of everyone.

"Gabriel," I whimper. Why am I being such a wimp?

"Y/N," he appears from behind one of the sheets and grabs my hand.

"Guys I'm telling you, this is how people die in horror movies," Alex hisses.

I lift up another sheet and someone in a mask is standing there. I gasp and back away, Gabriel stands protectively infront of me. I realise he is holding a gun so I shoot my hands up in the air, still backing away.

"Not another step," the man growls. I look behind me and three more other men are standing behind me, and one cocks their gun.

"What the hell are you doing out here? We are in the middle of an invasion!" One of them says.

"Oh yeah, you're the one with the Purge masks!" Dariush yells, "wrong genre bro."

"What we got a comedian up here?" Another man says, pointing his gun at Dariush.

"No!"

Gabriel speaks up, "there are aliens out here, okay? We're not the enemy!"

"You guys have something we're looking for."

"Dignity?" Zehn Zehn suggests. The man points the gun at her, taking a step towards. She backs away, raising her hands higher. Another man comes into site.

"Everybody calm down," he says, "look what we found."

He removes his mask.

"Hold on... you know this guy?" Gabriel asks, stepping forward.

"Do not move!" One of the men say threatening to shoot at him.

"Do we know him? Hell yeah we know him! We go way back!"

"Yeah, yeah!" Alex agrees with Dariush.

"Lou, you know me! We're like this, i wanted to free you, Alex was the one who was like "no leave him in there!" And I was like "dude, let's free him he's a human!" Would you mind telling these handsome young men pointing the shotguns to our face... to not do that?"

"I don't think anyone needs to get hurt tonight," the guy called Lou, says. I breathe out in relief.

"Though, Alex, if you'd be so kind to give me that?" Lou says.

"This?" Alex questions, holding up the key on his neck. Lou nods his head.

"Yeah."

"Alex... you didn't tell him about that key did you?" I breathe out.

"I trusted him!"

"You never trust anyone! Especially not people like him!" I yell, "you're going to sell it, aren't you?"

Lou nods, "you're smart. We could do with a girl like you. Get her." He says to the other men, who are now all surrounding me. I whimper as one of them grabs hold of me. I try to break free but his grip is too strong.

"No! Leave her alone!" Gabriel yells but they keep their guns pointed at him. Tears start streaming down his cheeks.

"No," I hear Zehn Zehn whisper.

"Get off of me!" I shout to the one holding me. I grab onto his arm, trying to get him off. He pulls out a knife and holds it to my neck.

"Alex, give us the key or we'll kill her."

"Don't give them it!" I yell as the man pulls the knife closer to my neck, it starts bleeding slightly.

"Please, just let her go!" Gabriel's voice breaks.

"Alex, just give them what they want, man!" Dariush panics.

"Alex," I speak up, "remember the promise you made? That you wouldn't let anything stop you?" I say, I'm crying now. I know I'm going to die.

"Y/N..." Alex replies.

"You have to go," I whisper in a shaky voice, "it's okay."
