𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 and bad news both arrived a few days after Marina's seventeenth birthday. The bad news; Lavender had broken up with Ron, due to the hospital wing incident and the fact that Lavender had known that for the past few weeks, Ron had been constantly lying when he said "I love you" to her, and was merely just using Lavender for snogging.

And surprisingly, Lavender didn't seem too down about the breakup after a few days. Everything was now back to normal.

The good news; Pavarti and Shadid were now officially together after going on a secret date in the astronomy tower. And Hermione and Ron were now back to being best friends.

Marina was currently helping Ron and Hermione study for their Apparation test (as Marina had already passed hers last week) in the common room. Pavarti and Lavender were very busy with Divination Club today, so Marina used today as a studying day.

As Marina started to test Ron on skills to use during Apparation, a snowy owl flew in the room through the tower window and dropped a letter on Harry's lap. Harry unrolled the parchment; but rather than find- ing Dumbledore's long, narrow, slanted writing he saw an untidy sprawl, very difficult to read due to the presence of large blotches on the parchment where the ink had run.

Dear Harry, Ron, Marina (if yer with em), and Hermione,

Aragog died last night. Harry, Marina, and Ron, you met him, and you know how special he was. Hermione, I know you'd have liked him. It would mean a lot to me if you'd nip down for the burial later this evening. I'm planning on doing it round dusk, that was his favorite time of day. I know you're not supposed to be out that late, but you can use the cloak. Wouldn't ask, but I can't face it alone.

- Hagrid

"Look at this," said Harry, handing the note to Marina.

"Oh Hagrid, you poor thing." Marina mumbled reading over the letter, then passed it to Hermione.

"Oh, for heaven's sake," Hermione said, scanning it quickly and passing it to Ron, who read it through looking increasingly incredulous.

"He's mental!" he said furiously. "That thing told its mates to eat Harry, Marina, and me! Told them to help themselves! And now Hagrid expects us to go down there and cry over its horrible hairy body!"

Marina started to laugh.

"What are you laughing about?" spat Ron.
