There was a long line in the procession. It's probably the longest in their locality since the first funeral of the first victim of the poisoned environment. Even the nearby locals, though far from the cement plant, joined in the funeral protest. It was heartwarming though bittersweet that they are now sending a person near his heart to his final resting place.
Almost everyone wore red as a sign of their support for the person inside the coffin. All them had only one strong message: JUSTICE.
Tears flow as he held the end of the coffin and marched. He didn't mind the blood oozing from the fresh wound covered by the bandage on his head, persevering the pain to at least deliver his beloved to his final resting place.
"My condolences, my dear friend..." He just nodded and said his thanks but didn't look at the person who spoke on his left side.
"I'll help with the case, not with just your sibling's and the other victims but with what you are fighting for. I will join Beam and you until the end." The guy continued while rounding his arm on his nape.
Now, Lam turned to look at the guy beside him and was surprised to see a familiar face. It matured a little bit but it's definitely more dashing in his eyes. Looking manly in the plain whites shirt especially that noticeable bulge in front of his denim pants.
"So? Don't you recognize me?" The guy whispered in Lam's ear.
Lam turned to his right and the guy there smiled back at him.
"Uhmmm, it's really Park, you're not hallucinating. He's now a lawyer. He's the one who brought your pupu to the hospital when she got hit on the head by a stone." Beam smiled maliciously as he noticed the shine in Lam's eyes.
Park went on and continued his law degree after his wife convinced him to finish his last year in college after giving birth. After establishing their small business, Park pursued his dream of being a lawyer. It's also the dream of his wife for him.
"Hey Lam, act normal. You look like a teenage girl in full kilig mode. You're hugging Park too much." Beam added as he pinched Lam on his side.
"Ouch!" Lam cried out.
Those in the procession march turned to look at the back. Eyes locked on those three while Beam and Park were secretly smiling.
"Ouch! My head is bleeding again... ooooh... it hurts..." Lam acted out asbhe touched his bandaged head to deflect the malicious attention from them.
"I told you, you shouldn't have come. Your wound has not healed properly yet. You're so hard headed my fufuh..." Minute came to their rescue who also had a bandaged head but her injury was quite minor.
"Where have you been?" Lam asked with a hint of irritation to his girlfriend.
"I was at the mall, indulging on the cold aircon. This procession is too hot so I refreshed myself. Where else will I go?" She rolled her eyes towards Lam then smiled at Park as a greeting.
"I talked to one of the organizers, how would I know he's at the other end." She scoffed.
Lam quickly hugged Minute and gave her a kiss to appease her as they continued following the march. Park just smiled with the sweet moment that he just witnessed.
Lam turned to his right again. Beam threw him a meaningful smile then pointed at Parks direction who was talking to the other rallyists. Beam looked at Lam again while licking his lips as if saying that Park was still as hot as ever. Lam felt awkward with Beam's teasing especially since he was beside his girlfriend. He stomped at Beam's foot.
"Stop acting indecent in my nong's funeral Baramee..." Lam whispered with a slight anger which made Beam act more formal.
The procession participants shouted when they passed by the capitol building.
"Drive out the poison to society!"
"Justice for Suthee!"
