George was almost ready. He sat on his stall, fiddling with his thumbs as the room fell deadly silent. Anxious was an understatement. George had attempted to ask the tailor about what the 'special occasion' might consist of. However even they didn't know, which just raised the Prince's suspicion. It had to be.
However today did feel eerily similar. It had to be happening. This wasn't the first time His Majesty the king had attempted to marry off his son. He had attempted multiple times in just the past few years alone. However non of the women he had chosen fit the cruel mans standards of what he deemed as acceptable. Meaning the prince was just carried around, much like a ragdoll as his father picked and chose who he saw as 'perfect'. Never once caring for, or even asking for his sons opinion.
Normally the prince himself would pick out his future partner, it was the perfect opportunity for striking up deals with neighbouring countries. In royalty marriage was almost never for love, it usually was the sign of an alliance between two lands and their nobles. However even in this situation, princes almost always had a say in the matter of who they were to wed. Almost always.
George however, had to just go along with what his father wanted, acting like such a decision was made by him. But it wasn't. George didn't have that luxury like every other prince.
"He's going to try and marry me off again." George's voice was relatively quiet. A tone of which was never used by a person with as much power as him.
"Maybe... Now please your Majesty, stand still for one more moment while I work." Eret's tone was that of sympathy, however it would be treason if he were to voice any opinion on the matter.
"We're almost finished." Eret said, looking at the prince intensely as his eyes raked over the almost perfectly fitted outfit George was wearing.
Eret always seemed to work wonders on the young prince, tidying up his messy bed head and always choosing the most fashionable and aesthetically pleasing outfits from the strict restrictions the royals had the joys of following.
"We just have to adjust this cloak." Eret sighed, signalling for the girl beside them to pass the needle and thread before he got to work, unstitching the seams and fixing up the extra fabric, until the cloak was to a perfect fit. The tailor masterfully stitch up all the small holes they had created until the cloak looked perfect. Even and symmetrical just as they liked it.
"And with that your Majesty, we are finished." Eret stood up, smiling at the prince as he signalled towards the door, a sign for George to head to breakfast. He was already running late.
"Thank you." George said, giving the pair of servants a weak smile before quickly rushing out of the room and down the winding corridors of the castle. It smelled damp, a musky kind of scent filled the castle at all times.
"Good morning Your highness." A familiar voice broke the prince from his trance, George was so caught up in his thoughts, he had failed to notice the older man trailing not much further behind him. The sight of the man alone was enough to ease the princes nerves ever so slightly.
"You do seem to be in a rush, now don't you?" The wizard chuckled before continuing. "You're late as well?"
George let out a quiet chuckle, "Maybe I am."
Phil knew Georges father, how he really acted and the ways he treated his sons and that upset the wizard massively. As a father himself, he made it his goal to help out the prince because unlike George, Phil wasn't replaceable to the king. Phil was a massively respected Noble among the people of their land and his fellow colleagues, and his magical knowledge was unprecedented.
As well as his massively respected skills, his sons were also admired among the nobles. His eldest Techno was a very talented warrior, a trained knight with skills unattainable for any normal person, he was the protector the kingdom could not afford to lose. There was also Wilbur, who had earned himself the title of 'duke'. He was one of Georges closest friends, a trained knight with much potential. He had always beat George at any fight regarding swords, his capability unmatched, even by the prince. However George exceeded in other aspects, and finally there was Tommy, the younger sons pure determination alone would be enough to drive him to much victory.
To put it simply, Phil and his sons had enough power to overthrow Schlatt if need be, and the king knew that.
"If you're worried about your old man don't be. He can't get angry as long as you're with me."
It was almost as if he could read minds.
Reading minds was one of Philza's many abilities, he had mastered the skill when he was much younger and it came to great use in many situations.
"Stop reading my thoughts." George frowned sarcastically, looking at the wizard with an inquisitive look on his face.
"You know whats happening today don't you."
Phil looked at the young prince with an all-knowing expression.
"Well maybe I have some ideas concerning the plans."
George was now walking beside the wizard, both on the way to the grand Hall where breakfast was to be served and plans discussed.
"What's... He planning." George said bluntly, referring to the King.
"You know what he's planning George don't kid yourself."
It was a marriage arrangement again.
George felt his entire mood drop at the confirmation. He had to go through this again.
Just as the thoughts began to cloud the Prince's mind, he was reminded of where he was. The door. The large fancy doors leading into the Grand Hall. They had a large dragon figure carved into each door, facing each other, both casting spells. One of which had water and the other fire, seeping from their mouthes as the stood menacingly in the orange looking wood. They were almost double the size of George, towering over the Prince as he stood meekly in the doorway. Building up courage.
George could hear the distant mumbles of people in the hall. Conversation. As the boy began to feel tense and stress surging in the pit of his stomach, a light hand was placed on his shoulder in a reassuring manner.
"You've got this." The wizard whispered opening up both doors violently, creating a deafening boom that echoed through the hall. Silencing all who were at the table.
Spite the man and his stupid wind powers! George was cussing the man out in his thoughts, not very noble of him but the clearly amused expression that was prominently residing on Phil's face was enough to make the Prince smile. He knew the wizard could hear his thoughts.
After a couple of seconds of standing in the doorway in shock, Phil was first to make his move.
"I'm terribly sorry your Majesty, I just wanted to give the Prince the enterance he deserved." The man said smugly. The king however did not look very amused at all, he sat sourly in his seat at the head of the table, surrounded by guests.
"Sorry father I was caught up by the tailor." George said quickly, walking into the room and straight to his seat. He was allocated near the middle of the table beside Wilbur and Tubbo and opposite the guests.
"Terribly sorry for the interuptance Queen Puffy, this is my son George." Schlatts tone was terrifying as he glared daggers at his son from across the table.
"No need to apologise, Good morning George." The woman said formally, her voice very sweet and friendly.
"This is Lady Alyssa, the daughter of one of our nobles." The Queen continued, pointing to the gorgeous blonde who sat beside her.
"Good morning." Was all George replied, bowing his head respectfully to the Queen before the woman returned her focus back to the conversation she was having with the king.
"She's pretty." Wilbur nudged his friends arm, causing George to roll his eyes.
"Not my type." George replied simply to his friend, watching as Wilburs expression changed to one of shock.
"They never are. I'm starting to believe you're not that interested in women." Wilbur laughed jokingly as food started pouring out of the kitchen and placed in an orderly fashion evenly, around the table.
"Doesn't matter, I've just what the old man wants."
