We climbed the stairwell, but duked when we saw an agent. I leaned over and whispered, "I'll check the final floor, and see if there are anymore agents up there. You stay here, and don't let them see you. If they see you fight back, alright?" Carlos nodded, and commented, "You better be careful."
Rolling my eyes, I crept past the agent, and continued my way up the flight of stairs. There were four agents on that level. "Crap." I mumbled, trying to tip-toe my way down the stairs again. Unfortunately, I wasn't looking where I was stepping, and my foot slipped.
An agent became alert and spotted me; we locked eyes for what felt like minutes, but it was probably seconds. "Intruder!" he shouted to his comrades. Giving up on the element of surprise, I dashed down the stairs. Another agent met me at the bottom, however, and I almost tripped during my sudden stop.
I backed up a couple stairs, but the agent started to quickly climb the stairs boxing me in. I heard a commotion on the second level, and I knew it was Carlos. I decided at the moment to become reckless, and I rushed toward the agent. I managed to slip behind him, and push him, but it cost me my footing on the steps.
I lost my footing, and I fell backwards; good thing I was on the third step. I felt two hands reach under my arms and catch. I looked over my shoulder and saw Carlos; I sighed with relief, as he lifted me off the stairs, turned around, and planted me on the floor next to him. "Did you just fall for me?" Carlos asked
"Susie, is on the final level. There's more agents up there." I quickly said, hiding my red face. Carlos nodded, and grabbed the rod off the ground. A door slammed on the first level, and peered down the stairs; Cree walked in and he looked outraged.
"Oh gosh, we gotta get up there before Cree catches up." Carlos exclaimed. Not needing more reassurance, I hastily climbed the stairs alongside Carlos. We stepped over the agent I had taken care of, but more spies waited for us at the top.
We looked at each other, and Carlos threw the metal rod back to me and I swept the feet of the first agent, and I returned it back to Carlos, who smacked the second agent with it.
I was grabbed from behind, suddenly, and pinned to the wall by the third spy. I brought my foot down hard on his toe. Feeling the grip loosen, I broke free, and in one agile movement I turned around, punched him. The agent fell to the ground, knocked clean out.
Carlos gave me a thumbs up, and we sped down the hall. "We need to check all the rooms. Try the door handles, the victim is usually in a locked room." I told him, peeking into the first room; nothing.
"Zylina!" I heard him shout, and I snapped my body around. Carlos was in a choke hold, with a gun pressed on his temple. I recognized the girl who had trapped Carlos; it was my old roommate, Jamila.
She was nearly as merciless, as Cree, but far more smarter. "Hello, old roommate." she sneered. "Hey Jamila." I sighed. "Who's handsome?" she asked. I rolled my eyes, and quickly grabbed the metal rod off the ground.
Jamila clicked her tongue, and pressed the gun deeper, causing Carlos to flinch. She then pulled the bandana off his face, and said, "I would hate to have to kill this poor boy, he could be a good agent for the Academy."
My heart skipped a beat, and I narrowed my eyes; I then heard the sobbing of a little girl down the hallway. "Oh that little brat, she would not shut up." Jamila hissed. Carlos's eyes grew angry, and growled, "Don't you say that about her!"
Without any hesitation Jamila, cocked the gun and hissed, "Shut up." Carlos clamped his mouth closed. "You know what, Jamila. I've had enough of you scaring him." I exclaimed, before lunging at her and planting the metal right to her forehead. Carlos was released, and managed to get out of the way in time before a gunshot went off.
