Zylina's Point of View

I was examining my clothes, when a loud knock sounded on the door; the sudden noise made me jump, and drop my clothes all over the floor. Groaning, I walked over to the door and opened it, to find an exhausted looking Carlos. He was soaked in sweat, and was heavily breathing.

I led him into the motel room, and asked, "What happened? It looks like you just ran a 5k marathon." "Zylina, I....I passed the hospital where Susie is being held." my eyes went wide, and I let him continue. "I heard her crying for help, and sobbing." he exclaimed, and I saw him holding back tears.

I sat next to him on the bed, and tried reassuring him, "We'll get her back before they take her to the Academy, but for now you need to stay calm." Carlos rubbed his face before quickly nodding, and we stood up from the bed.

"Well, you're the spy, which means you're also the leader." Carlos responded. "Alright do you have navy blue, or black clothes?" I asked, shrugging my shoulders. Carlos nodded, and I told him, "Put them on, and meet me back here, so I can go over the some-what plan."

Carlos raised his eyebrow, and asked, "You have a 'somewhat' plan?" I hesitated, before answering, "Yes, I have a some-what plan. It's better than no plan, right?" Carlos shrugged and nodded in agreement. "Alright, I'll be back soon." he said, before leaving the motel room.

An hour later....

"So, there's a back entrance to the hospital where they'll most likely have spies posted at. Last time one of the spies had the keys, but after their loss last time they'll probably give the keys to someone else that's on the inside." I explained, pointing to different spots on the map.

"Alright, what about the vehicle? We'll need to sabotage that so they can't get away." Carlos asked, rubbing the back of his neck. I remembered the truck that I had spotted earlier in that other motel parking lot.

"There's a motel across the road, behind the hospital. There's a truck there that I recognize from the Academy. The spies will probably knock her out or put her under so she won't struggle." I responded. Carlos was right about sabotaging the truck; it would make the job a lot easier if we did.

"How good are you with auto parts?" I asked. Carlos glanced at me, crossed his arms in front of his chest, and replied with, "I had a little bit of training. I think I can wreck it to the point where it won't start." A smile crept on both of our faces, and we looked back down at the map.

"So, why do you need my help? Aren't you the one that saved those kids in Findlay? Aren't you the ex-spy? Carlos asked, as I walked over to my duffel bag. I turned to face him and responded, "Remember, I didn't do that alone. If it wasn't for...him, for Rory, I don't think I would have made it out of there with both twins."

Carlos broke eye contact with me, and looked down at his feet. I sighed and said, "Carlos, I've never had a friend inside or outside the Academy except for Rory, so you being willing to risk your life to help someone you barely know, it means a lot." I was never good at "thank you's," so this was the best I could do.

Carlos walked over to me, and replied with, "Well, that was a very complicated way to say thank you." We both broke into quiet laughter right there, before Carlos said, "Your welcome."

I looked at the clock, and said, "Alright, we have a few hours until we have to go." I saw him bite his lower lip, and I asked, "Is there something you want to tell me?"

"Zylina, are you leaving after this is over?" he asked. I tensed at the question, and looked over at my duffel bag, which was zipped up and packed with everything except my sneak clothes. I nodded softly, but I kept eye contact with him when I turned around.

"It's for the best, Carlos. The less we're together the less danger you're in with the Academy." I said. It pained my heart to tell him that we couldn't stay in contact after this, but the truth could sometimes be painful.

"Okay, there's some things I need to pick up. I'll be back in a little while." Carlos said, turning and going for the door. I breathed in a sharp breath before calling out, "Carlos, wait!" He didn't turn around, as he closed the door behind him, and disappeared.

I threw my hands up into the air, and sighed with frustration. I then walked over to the table and slumped down in the chair.

15 minutes later....

Knock

Knock

I looked up from the papers, and thought to myself, "I thought Carlos would be gone for more than an hour." I walked over to the door, opened it, but then felt someone's knuckles crack on my jaw as pain exploded throughout my lower jaw.

I fell to the floor, and held my jaw until my sight strainted up a few seconds later. I looked up, still holding my jaw with my left hand, and stood into the eyes of my nightmare; Cree!

"Well, Zylina, it looks like this is the end of your pathetic little rescue mission." he snickered. My breathing grew frantic and my limbs wouldn't move; I felt like I was having one of my worst dreams. Cree reached down and grabbed the collar of my shirt, and gave me a hideous toothy grin.
