What is it like to be a 'typical'  high school student?

There are 2  general types of high school students: The studious and the social butterfly.

Studious is, as the name suggested, mainly described people who excelled academically, don't really hang out with friends (or have a lot of friends at all), quiet, etc.

The social butterfly is the opposite. Besides procrastinating homework and study, people tended to associate high school life as enjoying their youth - hanging out with friends after school, cares a lot about popularity, etc.

What happened when two students with different personalities were best friends? Well, this is a story about Jo Y/n, a smart girl who dreamed of becoming a teacher, and Ahn Yujin, the most popular girl in the school, and their now-broken relationship with each other.

Let's go back in time.

Y/n was shopping for her groceries. Tonight, she was craving some rice with meat, alongside kimchi as a side dish. The young girl lost her parents at a young age in an unfortunate accident. As of that, Y/n was devastated, obviously. Fortunately, her relatives had helped her in taking care of her young self.

When the senior year had started, Y/n told them she would be able to support herself and be independent. Of course, they were worried about letting a not even 17 years old girl living alone. Y/n, however, felt terrible if she kept leeching off her relatives. So they all made an agreement to let Y/n live alone, but her apartment must be close to their house.

So Y/n accepted, and now here she was - sustaining herself with a decent job as a waiter and studying hard.

"Oh, Lettuce looking fresh today." Y/n air-fisted to the sky as if she just won a big prize in a casino. She loved going to the grocery store. It was another day to destress from all the work.

After she checked out, she saw the arcade on the other side of the street and noticed a familiar face walking towards it. It was Ahn Yujin and her group of popular friends.

Now, Ahn Yujin and Jo Y/n used to be inseparable back in elementary. While Y/n's family was rather average, Yujin's family was loaded. Of course, all the elementary kids tried to be her friends because their parents told them to do so (they want to leech off her parents' money). However, Yujin was very clingy towards Y/n. She was the only one to recognized Yujin as a person, not as a moneybag.

Because of this, some sick-minded parents target Y/n's family due to her being friends with Yujin. At first, her parents told her to not mind it at all. But then it all changed when she paid the ultimate price of befriending Ahn Yujin.

Yep, her parents' death.

The police revealed that the 'accident' was caused by some sick-minded parents who killed her parents. This caused Y/n to be feared by everyone that she was not familiar with, as she had no idea what they could do to her.

And her hatred for Yujin and loaded people began to realize.

Luckily, as a smart girl, she understood that this hatred was baseless, but the relationship between her and Yujin was now long gone. Plus, Y/n began developing a fear of befriending rich people. What if outsiders thought of her as a golddigger again? What if her relatives got involved?
