"Man, why the heck do I have to wear this tight office dress?"
It was quite a blazing hot afternoon and Eunbi wasn't having it. As a recently-employed accountant, she had to abide by the uniform requirements for ladies - white long-sleeve shirt with a space grey long tight skirt, accompanied by a space grey blazer if the weather turned cold. Although it brought out the womanly charm of the 20 years-old body (she admitted it herself), it wasn't quite an ideal outfit for a day that Eunbi described as being stuck inside an oven. She forgot to prepare a nice bottle of iced tea to survive, otherwise, she wouldn't have to trudge along the side of the road without furiously sweating and multiple curses coming out of her mouth.
Luckily, luck was on her side.
The Cherry coffee shop was opened. And, she was there, tending care to the shop.
Who? you may ask? It's-
"MIYAWAKI SAKURA!!!!"
Eunbi, calm the heck down. Stop simping so hard, man...
"Oopsies"
Anyway, yes, Miyawaki Sakura, the girl with cherry blossom hair colour, an acquaintance of Eunbi that developed into a crush. From what Eunbi heard, she was a third-year university student who studied Bachelor of Fine Arts to pursue her performing art career. She was a hardworking girl, indeed. The degree was not only hard but also tedious for multitudes of hours developing her skills playing an instrument, as well as understanding theories and histories about music. If it was Eunbi, she would've burned the heck out of her pieces. Not only that but she also a gentle person with an angel face. No wonder this coffee shop beats out the Starbucks on the opposite side of the street. And Eunbi was one of them.
Luckily, barely anyone was here as it was near closing time. Eunbi hastily opened the door, the bell on top of the door chimed, notifying Sakura of another customer.
"I'm sorry, the shop is about to clos- oh, Eunbi-unnie! Afternoon!" Sakura beamed with her radiating smile. "You looked defeated". She chuckled.
"After..noon...Kkura.." Eunbi panted, feeling revived as she felt the air con revitalised her soul. "Can I.. have the... usual.. please? Thanks"
"Cherry's "sweet" coffee? Will do!" Sakura exclaimed as she jolted to the bean bag to prepare, unknowingly giving energy to the now-alive Eunbi, who couldn't help but want to put her in her pocket. Eunbi went to the seat nearest to the window, allowing her to see the intersections where she observed the moving cars, the buildings gradually lit up and the streets became crowded as the sun goes down. She couldn't help but felt gratitude for her current life. Having a stable job. Have a loving family and a circle of friends. And overall a good life. She was so into her own world, she didn't hear Sakura putting her order down the table until the younger girl tapped her shoulder.
"Unnie, here's your order" Sakura said. Eunbi panicked a little as she hadn't paid her order yet. Sakura seemed to notice the older girl's source of panic, she reassured her by putting her index finger on Eunbi's lips.
"It's on the house, don't worry." Sakura noted as she turned around to clean her station. Eunbi couldn't help but crushing her harder than before. All her worries about the hot weather were blown away by the soothing wind of a goddess, couldn't contain her smile even using all of her facial muscles. She took a sip through the straw, her face scrunched up as the bitter taste took over her.
"Bitter, just how I like it" Eunbi said.
"You're really strange, unnie" Sakura chuckled, making Eunbi surprised at her sudden appearance.
"Oh, Sakura? That was quick."
"Yeah, it was" Sakura scratched her head. "You looked kinda lonely sitting here, so I might just pack up early and, maybe, have a little chat with you to make the day less labor-intense, I guess?" She shrugged her shoulders. At this point, Eunbi was over the moon. Your crush took the initiative and wants to chat with you? Yes, please.
So for an hour, they talked about Eunbi's obsession with extremely bitter coffee, Sakura's current project for her course, their usual day, food recommendations, etc. If there were any outsiders sitting on other tables, even the most bitter coffee turned sweet just from looking at the two, beaming with joy while conversing about their daily life. As the street lights brightened, it marked the time for both of them to go home.
Sakura flipped the sign from "Open" to "Closed" as Eunbi waited for her crush to close the shop. Both of them thanked each other for the chill conversation, and they each walked away from each other to head home. Eunbi was about to sip the coffee when suddenly she noticed someone poked her back. It was Sakura, as the girl grabbed her white shirt's collar and smooched her on the lips. Eunbi startled at the younger girl, who couldn't help but smile.
"Check the bottom of the coffee, Unnie. Bai bai!!" Sakura exclaimed as she sprinted on her merry day. Eunbi recollected her consciousness from the sudden kiss, checking the bottom of her cup.
It was her phone number.
It was her jackpot day.
The older girl blushed as she craved for another sip. "Huh, it tasted sweet now."
