Shikamaru's POV
It's already Thursday and the dance is tomorrow.
And look at me, no idea about the dance these past days and only knew about it now, and most importantly.....
I have no date for tomorrow.
Of course, I can just ask a random fangirl of mine as my date, and I can guarantee myself that I'll have no problem having a date for tomorrow.
But hell would I do that! I hate those girls that rub themselves on me, as if we're close. I barely even know them.
And too bad, the person I wanted to ask out, already has a date.
Look at me, Shikamaru, heir of a successful company, a genius without any effort, is now stooping low because I didn't get to ask the woman I like to the dance.
How pathetic. A voice echoed inside my head.
I decided to just, ditch the dance and stay at home. Considering I won't be enjoying the party and I'll just annoy me, maybe I should just spend my time doing the thing I always thought of.
To sleep.
"Shikamaru! You're not going to eat with us?!" Naruto called from across. I didn't answer. I was too down from what just happened. "Shi-ka-ma-ru!" the obnoxious blonde repeated, exclaiming my name syllable by syllable.
"What?!" I answered with a shout, slightly pissed off. Can't they understand that I'm going through something?
"Did you hear what I just said?!" Naruto asked back.
"I did! I'll be following!" I answered. We were literally shouting at each other, ten feet away.
"Alright then! See you bro!" Naruto said for the last time and left, leaving me alone with my thoughts and feelings.
I guess I need to find someone else to ask out to the dance....
~Cafeteria~
"You know that character? He's actually the villain!!" the blonde exclaimed, adding fuel to the already crowded and noisy cafeteria, talking to Sasuke who seemed like he didn't give a damn about anything Naruto is saying.
Everyone seemed to be excited, with some gossips among the ladies and some guy talks from the boys.
Everyone seemed so happy, while I'm thinking about how a disappointment I am.
"Yoohoo! You alright bro?" Naruto asked, snapping me out of my rather negative thoughts.
"Yeah, I'm alright," I answered, forcing a smile, enough to convince Naruto that I'm alright. The blonde seemed like he bought it and shrugged, continuing with his food. But Sasuke didn't seem to buy it.
I noticed how Sasuke stared at me, suspiciously. It seems like he didn't believe my smile. I tried my best to avert my gaze from him whenever we would meet eye contact, and I also did my best to act as normal as I could.
"Spill it out," Sasuke said seriously. I looked at him with a confused face. It's not that I didn't know what he was talking about, but rather I knew perfectly well what he was saying.
Naruto looked at Sasuke confusingly as well, with his eyebrows furrowed. "Spill out what teme?" he asked.
"I'm not talking to you," Sasuke said bluntly, averting his attention from me to Naruto. He glared a little at the blonde, right before looking back at me. "I'm talking to Shikamaru here."
Naruto looked at me, even more confused on what's going on.
"What's he talking about Shika?" the blonde idiot asked.
