18: Do I Really Need This?

Temari's POV

"Temari, welcome home..."

That voice.... It's.... Mother's...

"Temari, how was your game? How was your friend?"

"Mo-mom.... Is that really you? Why are you here? Ho-how?" I felt a tear threaten to drop from my eyes. How can you not feel anything if your long dead mom is standing right in front if you? Smiling so sweetly, making your heart melt.

"What are you talking about? I've always been here." She pointed at my chest, particularly at the heart area. Relaying that she'll always be here, right inside me. "So, how was your game with your friend?"

"This is a dream right." there on I realized, it wasn't true. It's just a dream of course.

Mom chuckled lightly, "It might be. Aren't you happy to see me?" She asked again. I haven't even got to answer her first question. She's asking about Shikamaru right?

"I am happy to see you. Happier than you think I am," I started, staring at those beautiful eyes of my mom. "If you're asking about Shikamaru, we're still friends and.... I... Um...."

"Don't be shy, what is it?"

"I... I" I felt embarrassed and flustered to say it. "I like him." I said that in a low voice, somewhat like whispering. I looked down due to embarrassment, my face blushing and feeling shy.

"Temari...." I looked up to see my mom smiling.

"Mom...."

"Temari..."

*BEEP*
*BEEP*

"Mom..."

"Temari!"

"Mo-Mom...?"

"Temari wake up!" I shot up to see Ten Ten with eyebrows knit together and an angry vein on her temple.

"Oh, it's you..." I yawned and streached my arms. I felt a strong pang in my head, probably a hangover from last night. Ughh.. Why did I even do that? I remember nothing about it last night. Except for the fact that my brother was heー

Wait a minute, my brother was here last night. Kankuro was...

"That's right..." I placed my fingers on my chin and looked up the ceiling. "My brother was here last night..." Ten Ten looked at me in confusion, looking like it's unbelievable.

"What are you talking about? There was no trace that your brother was here. Are you drunk or something?" Ten Ten asked worriedly.

"I did drink last night and the only remember the fact that my brother was here."

"No Temari. I don't remeber telling your brother or anything and that just seems impossible. He's in Suna right?" She shrugged her shoulders and said everything with a 'as-a-matter-of-fact' tone. "I only remember calling one person to look over you. And that, is your one and only childhood friend Shikamaru." Ten Ten said like it wasn't a big deal while looking at her newly done nails.

"I see... Maybe it was him or maybe he didn't even come at all. I was so drunk last night so maybe I was hallucinating. This hangover is the result of that..." I placed my hand in my head to stable the spinning of it.

"That's what you get from doing that girl. You know you're not good with alcohol." Ten Ten sat up from my bed and tugged me to get up. "Come on now it's already lunch. Get yo ass up!" Giving up and wants no more pain, I got up and fixed my bed. "Hurry downstairs. I already made lunch."
