"Sam your phone has been ringing", Drew said to Sam as she came out of the shower and enter the bedroom.
"Just answer it", Sam said to him.
"Hello" said Drew
"Drew it's Monica, Can I speak to Sam"
"Monica what's wrong?" asked Drew
Sam walked over and took the phone from Drew's hand, "Monica", she said
"It's Jason, he's in an accident, you need to get here, said Monica
"Jason, accident, what, when, what do you mean?"
"Sam, Patrick needs you here in case someone has to make a decision"
"Why me?" asked Sam
"Well from what I gathered you guys are still married" said Monica
"Okay. I'm on my way", Sam said , She looked at Drew as she hang up the phone, "I have to go, Jason has been in an accident".
"Accident, what do you mean", asked Drew, "Is he okay? why do they even need you"
"I just need to be there, we're still married"
"Okay I'm coming with you", said Drew
"You can't", said Sam
"Why not? Is there a reason you don't want me to come? It's pouring rain outside, Can't Monica handle whatever it is?"
"Danny", said Sam, "someone has to stay here with Danny"
"Okay", said Drew, "Be safe and keep me updated"
She quickly got dress, "I'll be back", she said as she walked out the door

"Monica", Sam said as she rushed off the elevator.
"He's in surgery", said Monica, "Patrick left these paper for you to sign"
"What papers? What are these?" Sam took the papers from Monica's hand and began to read, "Brain swelling? seizures? What's going on Monica?"
As Sam was talking to Monica, Patrick came out of the operating room, "Patrick", Sam yelled, "What's wrong with Jason?"
"He has a broken risk, minor cuts and bruises"
"Get to the point Patrick" Sam said
"He has a swelling in his brain, Did he tell you he was having headaches"
"Sort of, does this have anything to do with the previous brain injury, is this something new?" Sam asked
"I'm not sure" , said Partick, I have all the questions that your have also, but we're gonna need to put him in an induced coma so the swelling can go down".
"Patrick no", said Sam
"Sam I have no choice" Patrick said.
"Is he awake? conscious? can I talk to him?" asked Sam.
"He's in and out of conciseness, they're gonna move him to a room right now, you can see if you can talk to him then, but you need to make the decision now and make it fast" said Patrick
Sam waited for them to take Jason in the room, then she entered in the room. She stared at him as he lay there semi-conscious. Minutes later, he opened his eyes, "Sam" he said
"Hey" Sam said
He slowly closed his eyes and went back to sleep
Sam drew a chair close by and sat along his bed side, she took his hands in hers and began to talk to him. "I have to do something that you're not going to like. I have to make them put you in a coma so you can get better. I don't know if you can hear me Jason, but I'm sorry. I know how much you're gonna hate this, and how much you're going to fight this but please don't. Patrick said this is the only way. Please do this for me and Danny, I'm sorry Jason"
The door pushed opened, Carly walked in . "It's ironic isn't it?", said Carly, "you can't make a decision if you want to be with him or Drew, but you're in charge of whether he lives or die"
"Why are you here Carly?, now is not the time?" said Sam
"Jason is my best friend Sam, where else would I be?"
"Please don't fight over me", said Jason
"We're not", they both said
"What did Patrick say", asked Jason
"Do you remember what happened? Sam replied
"I was in cab, an accident, I'm not sure. It was raining"
"It's okay" Sam said
"Tell me what Patrick said"
"Don't worry about that...."
He interrupted Sam, "Carly, can you give us a second" he said
Carly rolled her eyes
"Please Carly', said Jason,
"Fine", said Carly, "but only because you asked nicely". Carly left the room
"Why are you here?" Jason said to Sam
"Legally we're still married", she said
"I'm sorry", said Jason
"For" asked Sam
"Dragging you into this"
She put her hands on his and stared into his eyes; "you know I'm kind of use to this"
"This is not something to get use to", said Jason, "Why did Patrick want you here?"
"There's a swelling"
"Brain swelling?" he asked
"Yeah", said Sam, "He wants to put you under"
"Under like in a coma?"
"Yeah" said Sam
"Not a chance" replied Jason
"Jason, he said it's the only option"
"There has to be some kind of pill or something," Where's Robin?
"Robins at a conference. He said it's the only choice" Sam said
"For how long?"
"I don't know"
"I don't want to, I can't", Jason said
"Why?" asked Sam
"The nightmares", said Jason
Patrick walked in the room, Jason looked up at him "How long?" Jason said to Patrick
"3 days maybe", said Patrick
"How long?" Jason asked again
"3 days to a week, may be more. Listen Jason you've always trust me with your life. Believe me when I tell you this is the only choice", said Patrick
"What if it doesn't work", asked Jason
"We'll cross that bridge when we get there", said Patrick
"Okay", said Jason
"Okay", replied Patrick
"Can you give us a minute". Jason said to Patrick
"Sure", said Patrick as he exit the room
Jason looked up at Sam, "You're scared", he said to Sam
"Is it that obvious?" she said. She climbed into the bed with him and put her head on his chest and he held her in his arms
"I'm gonna be okay, could you just be here when he put me under and be here when I wake up", said Jason
"Okay", said Sam
"What's wrong, asked Jason
Nothing, said Sam
"Sam", said Jason
"I hate this", said Sam, "I just wish life for us was much easier"
"You mean like life with you and Drew", asked Jason
"Where did that come from?" asked Sam
" I don't know, now is not the time I guess"
"You know that what you and I have is completely different from him right?" asked Sam
Suddenly, they heard footsteps at the door, they both look towards the door, they knew it was Carly, "You can come in Carly", Jason said
Carly opened the door and came into the room, "I'm sorry. I'm just worried about you"
"I'll be fine, Patrick's gonna put me in an induced coma for a while to reduce the swelling", said Jason, " please don't fight with Sam"
"I can't promise you that"
"Carly", said Jason
"Fine", said Carly, "I won't fight with her, as long as you get better, how long is this coma, are you sure?"
"I'm sure Carly, don't worry", he said
"I'm gonna call Sonny and I'm gonna be right outside and I'm gonna go so I don't have to fight with Sam, please get better and I'll be back before Patrick put you under" , Carly left the room
"She really hates me", Sam said.
"No she doesn't, you know how she gets, she's overprotective"
"I'm gonna get Patrick, okay" said Sam,
"Not yet", said Jason, "just stay here for a little bit longer"
"Okay", said Sam
They held each other in silence, not saying a word but just enjoying the moment of being in each other presence, sharing this moment of intimacy that can only be explained by the breakable bond they share with each other
Minutes later, Patrick entered the room. Patrick explained the procedure to them and gave them the papers to sign. Sam and Jason went over the papers together and sign them. Carly, Monica and Sonny watched from the doorway.
"You ready?" asked Patrick
"Yes" said Jason, "Anything else, talk to Sam, whatever decision need to be make, talk to Sam"
Sam held on to his hands as Patrick began to put the drugs in the IV. Jason looked up at her,"I'm gonna be okay, I love you"
"I love you too", said Sam
A few minutes after, Jason closed his eyes and he was in a deep induce coma, Sam watched him as he slipped into unconsciousness and as he slipped away, tears ran down her cheeks. Monica came over and held her.
