Chapter 14

Hayes' POV 

I grab Cayli's hand and pull her out the door. Today I was going to officially ask her out. I really hope she says yes. 

"Pleeeaaaaassssseeee tell me where we're going Hayes?" Cayli pleads as we walk down the street. I figured if I drove, she would know instantly where we're going. 

"Nope." I say and laugh. 

"Ugh whatever." She says and lets go of my hand. I look at her and she looks pissed off. I stop walking and she turns and looks at me as she stops too.

Cayli's POV 

Hayes stops walking so I do too and look at him. 

I raise my eyebrows and say, "What?"  in a mean tone. I'm trying to act like mad to get where we're going out of him. He's very gullible so I'm pretty sure he'll tell me. 

"Would you stop acting so pissed off? This is a surprise and I'm not telling you where we're going. Now come on." He says and drags me to the other side of the street.

I groan and walk with him. I look to the left and know where we're going. I slightly smile and act like I know nothing. 

We get to the entrance of the carnival and Hayes buys us the bracelet things so we can ride all of the rides. I kiss his cheek and he smiles but keeps walking, not saying anything. 

"Why are we here?" I ask him as he pulls me over to the Ferris wheel.

"You'll see." He says and blushes. Oh lord, he is so cute. I'm so lucky to be in love with such a great guy.

"Ma'am." The guy standing there looking at out bracelets snaps me back into reality. I show him my bracelet and Hayes and I walk onto a chair thing on the Ferris wheel. 

"Careful." Hayes says as he straps us in.

The ride starts moving and we get to the top when it stops. I look at the sky and it looks beautiful. 

Hayes turns my head to look at him and he looks deep into my eyes.

"I have a question for you." He says and I nod slowly.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" He asks.

I grab his head and force his lips onto mine. I kiss him with so much passion, hoping he understands my answer. I pull back and smile while biting my lip. 

"So is that a yes?" He asks. I kiss him again and he smiles. 

"Duh." I tell him. 

We get to the bottom of the ride and get off. 

"I'm hungry." Hayes says while he drags me to the pizza stand. 

"Dude, you're always hungry." I say and giggle. 

"Well duh." He says and orders us 2 pieces of pepperoni pizza with Dr.Pepper. 

He gets it and sits us down at the table. 

"We need straws." I say. He grabs my drink and starts to walk off. 

"Wait Hayes what are you-" I say but he ignores me and walks off. 

"Okaayyy.." I mumble to myself and he walks back. 

He sits my drink down then sits down himself and digs into his pizza. I go to take a drink of my drink and see Hayes slightly laugh. I pick my drink up and see a ring around the straw. It has an infinity sign on it and says 'I love you' on the inside. My eyes start to water and Hayes laughs.

"I promise to fight for you, Cayli." He says and comes over to me, kneeling down in front of me. 

"I love you more than I've ever loved anyone. This ring is supposed to show that. I know its not much but I love you and I promise to love you through anything. I WILL fight for you." He says and of course I start crying. He hugs me and kisses my forehead. 

He slips the ring onto my opposite wedding ring finger and smiles. 

"C'mon. Lets go home. I want to show this off." I say and we both laugh. I didn't eat my pizza so the lady gives me a to go box and I put in there while Hayes throws his trash away. 

We get everything and then head home. 

We're walking home and my phone buzzes in my pocket. I pull it out and Ashlyn's face pops up on the lock screen. I laugh and read her text. 

'CAYLI, ISAAC JUST ASKED ME OUT! IS THIS REAL OR NOT OMG I'M FREAKING OUT! He didn't ask me to be his gf or whatever, just to go hang out. I'm cool I'm cool. Quit judging me. I can feel you judging me Cay.' 

I start laughing really hard and show Hayes the text. He starts laughing too so we look like maniacs on the side of the road. 

I text back, 'Well good for you girly! Don't make me look bad!'  

I put my phone back in my pocket and we get home to the front door. We walk in and I, of course, decide to yell. 

"ANYONE HERE!?" No answer. Well then. 

I set my pizza in the fridge, but not before putting my name in all caps on the box with a sharpie. I get my drink and me and Hayes head upstairs to my room. I put my drink on my dresser then change into some compression shorts and a sports bra in the bathroom. I come out and Hayes is standing there, taking his pants off. 

I laugh and crawl into bed. 

'Well I guess we're both sleeping naked." He says and smirks. I roll my eyes and Hayes lays down beside me. I lay my head on his chest and listen to his peaceful heartbeat. 

"I love you Cayli." Hayes tells me and kisses me head.

"Speaking of love, let me take my ring off so I won't lose it." I say and put my ring on my bedside table. I kiss Hayes before laying my head back on his chest. 

"I love you too babe." I tell him.

"It feels amazing to finally call you mine." He says and I smile. 

I kiss his chest and slowly drift to sleep.
