7. Weekend

It was the weekend, Naruto had been working for two days straight, partly to keep himself distracted from his new-found frustration and so that he would be able to have a guilt free break by the end of the week with his old friends.

Hinata Huga had come by earlier in the day to submit her mission report, neither of them said anything about their date, though he wasn't sure as to why Hinata hadn't mentioned anything related to the awkward topic at all but Naruto decided that it was for the best for both of them.

Naruto was finishing up on his work when he looked towards Sasuke who had been helping him with everything in the office and out since he got back to the village. Naruto wondered why didn't the raven spend any time with Sakura, they both obviously liked each other...right? To be attractive and be attracted towards someone too, must be nice, he sighed. Nonetheless, he appreciated the raven's help.

"Do i have something on my face, idiot?", Sasuke asked.

Naruto hadn't realized he was staring at the Uchiha, "Um..haha, i was thinking i appreciate you helping me out at the office, even though you don't have to and i know you prefer missions out there more than being stuck here with me",  he let out a nervous laughter while he blushed, followed by a genuine smile.

Sasuke froze for a second, they both obviously admired each other, but hearing Naruto say something like that while blushing on top of it was...he didn't know what it was...yet.

"Hn, I don't mind being here stuck with you", Sasuke said without weighing his words. Wha-at?, he thought to himself.

Naruto's eyes widened for a second, but he instantly put on a warm smile. "Um..say Sasuke would you like to join me and the gang to hangout tonight? We go out for some barbeque that Choji loves, and some sake on the weekends", he asked, hopeful.

"No", came an instant reply.

"Oh come on! Its not like you have anything better to do tonight anyway", Naruto took a deep breath, "Id love if you could come".

Sasuke opened his mouth to decline again, but closed it as if weighing on what Naruto had just said. "I'll come by later for sometime maybe", he finally gave in.

The hokage's face lit up, "Alright! I'll see you later then".

"Hn", came the reply, as he watched the hyperactive ninja make his way out the office door.
