Marriage...is a tricky subject. One minute you're head over heels for someone and the next, you simply can't stand the other. Sasuke Uchiha wasn't made for relationships let alone marriage, or so he thought, until he fell in love with the sun itself. A beautiful man, with an even more beautiful heart. The raven had already given him his heart and soul and would gladly give him the life he was left with in a heartbeat. And because the said person would do the same for him, just made their relationship even more profound.

But there was a problem, because their love was so deep, so much as to have married each other, the question of extending their family was bound to arrive sometime in their lives. So it did, when his husband so conveniently briefed the raven with an option to have a child of their own. Their own flesh and blood, well at least one of their's. But did the raven want that?

Never in his life Sasuke had thought that he would get another chance at life and having a family and even making children of his own. Well now he did, he had all of that and more. So he was a little overwhelmed. He wanted his blonde to remain as happy and content with their situation as possible, but was this the cost of it? Did he have to bring a life into this world in order to keep his man satisfied with him? And the biggest question, was the raven ready to pay that price?

The answer fortunately or unfortunately was, no. The Uchiha after had thought about this day and night came to the conclusion that bringing another child into this world was not something he could get himself to agree to. And he couldn't possibly take this step only to keep their relationship alive, that would be plain cruel to the child. Whatever the reason may be, be it childhood trauma or his past full of darkness, he just...couldn't.

So when the raven told this to his husband..

Flashback:

"I can't do it Naruto. Surrogacy, I-I just can't seem to put my head around it"

Naruto's smile faltered, "May I know why?"

Silence.

"Is it because you'll be away alot? Because I can handle it, really. Or do you...do you not want children...with me?"

"No. That's not it. I don't know how to explain Naru. The whole idea of bringing a child in this world..."

"Is what? Not good enough for you?"

"Thats not- why are you making this more difficult than it already is?"

"I'm making it difficult? Sasuke, we're getting a chance many don't get. A family of our own. You and me Sasuke, our child. You think that's something you should throw away just like that?"

"Naruto, you're trying to pressure me into something I'm not ready for. Do you understand that?"

The blonde remained silent for a while, "The question is Sasuke, are you ever going to be ready?", he tried to end the conversation at that.

"No Naruto. The question here is, if you're willing to accept the fact that I might never be", the raven countered.

End of flashback.

That was months ago. Since then, the situation between them had been some what turbulent. Naruto had started to stay at the office for as long as possible, sometimes even spending the nights. The raven on the other hand tried to steer clear of the said office as much as he could, taking up missions he did not even have to. Though they obviously missed each other, a few times they met and cried and hugged and kissed, had wild sex and even apologized. But they fell right back to their pattern the very next day.

Something was missing, they both knew it, but none were willing to fully address it. That is, until one night Naruto came home in an already fowl mood to a very drunk Uchiha. They had hardly seen each other in about two weeks, staying in the same village, the same house, but never together. The blonde saw the raven sitting on the couch, looking at the ceiling in a daze, a drink in his hand. The blonde shook his head in disapproval and tried steering to their room when..
